A regularly used 911 sometimes better than garage queens.

But I also have a £600 Skoda diesel pick-up which I use when the journey doesn't warrant the 911.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

hi there, can anyone help with my first purchase of a 911,i like the c4s version and hence looked at prices to find you cant get anything below about 27k but the guides give you a valution of about 22k ?seems a big difference
Most valuations from 6 months ago more pessimistic than recent values which have firmed up a bit from 6-12 months ago which have occurred for a lot of cars. I brought my 2003 C4 from good Indie 6 months ago, paid £24,000, immac, full history, 50,000 miles, 12 month warranty.
Similar but with slightly higher spec i.e PCM, heated seats C4S about £2000 more by same dealer. In general C4S seem about 10% more than same C4. I just preferred the feel of the narrow bodied car at the time and have absolutely loved it
Looking around lowest priced C4S from private seem around £23-24,000 with indie about £1-2,000 more with later ones as much as £30,000
thank you for that info, the 1 i enquired about from a car warehouse type sales operation they said they would supply 1000 k warranty or 1 month which seems a bit short, they said you can extend the warranty with the aa or someone like that if i want?
I believe that any trader/dealer has a legal/statutory requirement to stand by the car for 3 months - whether they insure this period or not is there risk, they are liable.
911 purchase
once again thank you for the info,it is great talking to people with knowledge on porsche,it seems very daunting buying a posche and keep trying to put myself off, even though i want one,but its not the sensible thing to do !!perhaps i should get a cheap jap car and deisil which does 100 mile to the gallon and saves the world !!!just keep telling me to take the jump
I am a few months ahead of you in the process and have owned my Porsche for two whole months now, almost to the day.
It is daunting, especially when you see what can (but usually doesn't) go wrong.
To minimise my risk I went for the simplest model available, the C2. No turbo, no 4WD.
It runs beautifully and has caused me no sleepless nights.
But I also have a £600 Skoda diesel pick-up which I use when the journey doesn't warrant the 911.
Good luck. But do it. you won't be sorry
+1
worth the extra IMHO - often, warranties from indies are not worth the paper they are written on... and who's to say they will still be there in 3 months should something go wrong, then you're knackered!!!??
911
i have looked at a car and looks good but the 2 rear tyres are low on tread is this a sign that its been raced ?tracked,is there a way you can tell if they have ?
Re: 911
911 variant Porsche's do wear out rear tyres faster than the front under normal driving.
As regards a car being tracked or thrashed......
Look for "aftermarket Performance modifications" - Lowered suspension, hard shock absorbers, drilled Air box, also look for high wear rate on outer and inner edges of tyre treads, notchy gearbox's and general "slackness".
The one coming in to JZM sounds good.
Not on their website yet but priced at £29,900 with 29k miles.
Has one of the most essential options - Porsche Sports Exhaust
Re: 911 options
If you like to
hear
that you have a Porsche (whilst being able to switch it off in the mornings so as not to annoy the neighbours), then Hell Yes !
It can be retro-fitted but now costs in region of £3k to £4k
I wouldn't say heavy wear on rears a sign of hard life. A regularly used 911 sometimes better than garage queens. Tracked cars obviously more wear on items such as discs and bushes. I use mine as a daily driver ~ 15,000 mods a year and very reliable. Rears last around 10,000 miles and fronts ~15-20,000 miles with set or rears ~ £500 and fronts £ 250 budget on £1500-2000 per year when you include service, discs , pads etc in. PSE does sound great costs from opc doubled in last few years from 2000 tp £4030 quoted by Cambridge opc!!!! Am currently debating between h&s bypass or K&N induction kit
