Worst case I would lower the engine as far down as possible without pulling completely and replace the lifters on both banks.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 2003 C4S has a misfire on Cyl4. after swapping coils and plugs, running a leak down compression test I am at a conclusion that my lifters are sticking or have some debri. I can only deduct along with my indy shop that the lifter is the issue. The cars runs amazing but you can feel the misfire at idle. I am hoping that I can run a recommended detergent through in case it is just debri. Worst case I would lower the engine as far down as possible without pulling completely and replace the lifters on both banks. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have done work on my 3 chain but never on my 5 chain how much more different and difficult is it? What detergent would be recommended to try and clean any possible debri without it harming or washing more debri into the lifters Finally What part numbers are the lifters for the 3.6 5 chain motor and best place to buy them?

Can you share your leakdown and compression numbers? You say the compression is good, but here is a recent thread you might want to look at: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...iston-hit.html If you haven't seen this video before, it would be good to watch it start to finish: You Tube

Just so you know, that is a leakdown tester, not a compression tester. You are not showing compression. And your shop should give you compression readings for all six cylinders, not one, the same with leakdown if you want to properly troubleshoot.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
