Suspected cause
But I know the car and it's sold if it was the PCCB with leather and no radio.

a nice spec I would insist on getting a 111point check done at an official OPC that way you could but on an official Porsche warranty .I take it their warranty is with an aftermarket company .They are great cars and do not leak have left mine out in a thunderstorm on a overnight to Skye last year .they can be a bit noisy at motorway speed and above .the seats are not to comfortable on a really long trip certainly hold you in place on the twisty bits ..good luck on your quest

Set my heart on a pdk after driving one with sport plus this week..and like a muppet asked the dealer to prepare a Rev range report lol (I'm right in saying it's pretty much impossible to over Rev a pdk right ?!)

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
30 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Just sold the 997 and seriously tempted by one of these.
Would be very interested to Hear from any current/past owners on buying advice and thoughts on living with the cars (mine willbe a second car so outright practicality isn't s prime consideration thankfully!)
I'd also be leaving the car outside so would like to find out how water tight that roof really is and if there are any good top half covers suitable for it to protect the roof in winter ?
I'm also keen to try a PDK car so would welcome any views on that versus manual and also if it's really worth holding out for sport chrono ?
Thanks guys

Spec is key to maintain its desirability. Manual box, Spyder wheels, carbon backed buckets, PSE, short shifter are the key ingredients, everything else will depend on what your own preferences are.
if you want to try PDK buy another model imo, The Spyders not the car to go and try PDK in although you could get a deal on PDK cars which are stuck selling atm.
lucky for you there is a car for sale which shows off what the car can be, no weighty extra's and all the best bits and manual. very rare launch spec I think one of 3 in that mega spec with the two big cost options of leather and PCCB.
def the spec to have if you plan to keep it long term as an investment.
Thanks for all the helps and pm's guys really appreciate it. think I've found anothe car to look at - cavendish porsche (any references appreciated - they sound good guys on the phone).
Anything particular to look for when I view the spyder ? Thanks again !
Driven mine through all sorts of weather including a massive downpour on the M25 with no problems regarding water ingress. Can't comment on if parked outside as mine is garaged. The car is great and ignore the moans about the fiddly roof as it is easy to remove/install one you get the hang of it. I have done 5000 miles in mine including 2 trips around Europe with no problems at all and the handling/driving experience is supurb. You won't regret getting one. Let us know how you get on plus of course pictures if you get one.

That's a nice car at Cavendish, but those badges on the seats add unnecessary weight.
That just looks well dodgy! Forgot the pointy arrow to the centre consel.
Kin ell mate step away from the arrow generator lol . yes - I pulled him up on the cheap gel badges - nothing a hairdryer won't sort out all going well...

I think that's the case with any PCP car these days which is 90% of cars on the road, you only have to visit London to see all the cars bouncing of the limiter from cold.
People don't care, most cars are leased or PCP under warranty and they hand them back. then added to that there are 35 OPC all have about 8 test cars every 3 months , that's another 1000 pre regs which get thrashed.
buy on condition , every car has been thrashed unless you buy brand new. In fact some say a thrashed car is better than a laboured car and Porsche also state low revs was the reason for bore scoring, the engines are built for hi revs and the limiter is well before any damage.
you should know that you bought a car and you had to have a new engine and that was not a press car !!

yours was a track hack lol. (joking btw but if you got it 2nd hand who knows) Also a hugh % of these cars were pre reg cars.
Edited by PorscheGT4 on Saturday 9th May 08:14
Above is why I prefer to buy privately or at least find something out about previous owner,an ex press car,ex demo or a car that has had multiple owners is always a no for me!i agree with the sentiment about some pcp buyers as they know it will be replaced in 3 years and may be not to worried thrashing from cold.
Reving an engine is fine but only when up to temperature !
Still not sure about that car with the gel stickers all over,I mean why would you on a £40+ k car!

And huge % of pre registered new Porsches only have delivery miles( less than 10 miles) when sold on as will be the case with the 991 later this year when the 992 arrives!

I've seen this and although it's priced up right at the top of the market I do quite fancy it for the summer . No radio is rare . But is it that desirable ? Forgot to check but assuming no air con either . Doesn't seem to have been snapped up yet. Do you think it's priced about right ?
Shame it hasn't got chrono or alcantara wheel ....
