Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hi all, just finished washing my 08 CS, and noticed a lot of soap and water in the front trunk area. I removed my battery cover and there were suds down around the wiring. I used a foam cannon, but not pressure washer. I certainly didn’t hold the nozzle directly into the gap. Upon closer inspection, I noticed I can see straight into my frunk area where the windshield washer sprayers are. Is this normal? It doesn’t seem like there are any missing gaskets. Here are some pictures. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

It's normal for water to get into that area, yes. There's like three drains, just make sure they're not plugged with leaves or gunk

POST 3Original post

There is a rubber gasket attached to the top edge of the plastic cowl trim (the part the wipers stick through) that seal it to the windshield. This can go missing - new windshield, or just old-age it dries up. Worth checking it's there and in good condition. If it's damaged or missing you'll get lots of water down in the battery area. FWIW - I get very little water in that area, it's generally a bit dusty there.

POST 4Original post

Appreciate the replies! Was a little concerned since the wiring looms were a little damp. The rubber strip is there and doesn’t seem loose. I’ll make sure the drains are clear too.

POST 5Original post

Sure, there's a seal a the top, but those open grilles on the left and right dump directly into the cowl area. So don't worry about it, as that whole area is designed to be exposed to water.

POST 6Original post

In those areas just lay a towel in there before you spray…
