Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have found that adjusting the fader to a '6' or '7' for the rears helps out with a +9 for the bass.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have an '03 with the Bose option and find the sound quality lacking. I have seen other posts about making sure loudness is enabled but they seem to be all MY '02s. I have the AP (AudioPilot) option but no loudness - anyone have any ideas on how I can get better low-end bass response?

POST 2Original post

IMHO the Bose system in my '03 has TOO MUCH low-end bass! I have it turned all the way down, and it still sometimes "booms" too much with certain songs.

POST 3Original post

I agree, there should be a way to control the output of the sub

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is there a loudness 'on' or 'off' with the Bose? Other posts mention it but they seem to be 02's. I have no idea how to bump up the bass - I have it set at '9'.

POST 5Original post

I have the same problem w/ my '03. The Bose sounded much better in my '02, before the "upgrade". Very little bass response while car is in motion (sounds great in the garage!). Maybe this has something to do with the dynamic adjustment (AudioPilot) not being very dynamic. Like most things "automatic", nooooo! Just give me a **** or button! In any case, elevating the bass just makes it sound soggy, not solid. Even tried it with the rear seats up and down...n/c. Complete waste of money, IMHO. Perhaps there's a batch of bad ones?? -DT

POST 6Original post

Go into the note controls and find the loudness button, if it has it, LD.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Dirk, I have found that adjusting the fader to a '6' or '7' for the rears helps out with a +9 for the bass. There is no 'Loud' setting - did your '02 have such a thing?

POST 9Original post

Interesting there are such radical differences in opinion here. Sounds suspicious. My opinion of the Bose is decent. But if anything I would say the low-end is it's strong point even if sounded a bit "phoney" at times. My advice is buy a set of GHL mufflers and you'll never worry about your stereo again... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

POST 10Original post

Lance, is there anything more subjective than sound quality. I used to work in the high end speaker industry and it was absolutely amazing that some people said they could tell the "sonic" difference between home speakers cables lying on the floor vs. suspended 12 inches above the floor. When it comes to sound quality, people are just nuts. The wide range of hearing loss due to exposure to machinery, gun shooting, and especially driving with the windows down, makes for a infinite sound stage in peoples heads, literally. if you like white wine and not red wine, then all red wine sucks. right?

POST 11Original post

Good point. I just thought in relation to the Bass vs. no Bass discussion there was such a wide gap in opinion, that it couldn't just be chalked up to subjectivity. But anything's possible.
