Suggestion

IIRC, if you get Porsche Assist to come out and replace its less than OPC, can't remember by how much, but remember thinking it was worth doing.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It looks like my battery has finally gone and died and wont hold charge even after slapping the CTEK on it for 5 days... I remember reading a post on here that said as i have an OPC warranty i need to fit an OPC battery but i cant find the post.... Can anybody confirm whether this is true or not please??? Also in that post there was something about the cost of getting the Porsche Assistance to fit it... in that it was high or lower (can't remember!!) Anybody help please??? Cheers Jason

POST 2Original post

Yes, that is correct. You will need an OEM Porsche battery fitted at an OPC to retain your warranty!

POST 3Original post

Hi 911 PJ that is not 100% correct, you do need to fit a OEM battery however you do not need to get them to fit it especially as they charge £100 to do so. Had a similar problem a few months ago and because of my location they needed to send the battery out to me. They say they charge that much for fitting so they can check there is nothing else causing the problem and to reset the codes. The codes take a few mins to reset. The cost if I remember is about £140 for the battery.

POST 4Original post

As said needs to now be Porsche battery to renew warranty. IIRC, if you get Porsche Assist to come out and replace its less than OPC, can't remember by how much, but remember thinking it was worth doing.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yep all sorted by Porsche Assist without the £100 fee by Porsche dealer... Thanks for all advice

One of the guys on the PCGB forum has an aftermarket battery, and has still successfully claimed on the Porsche warranty: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/fb.asp?m=545308
