I've got some Meuliers (sp?) with a clay bar I dont need anymore if you live near Surrey Quays. PM me if you want it. But as said above, it does only cost £12 from Halfords.............
And it works really well to remove all the crap and imperfections in the paint surface of your car too!

That's kind. Are you offering?!
Truth be known I recently lost mine which i got when i ordered a kit. I would like the same again but can't bring myself to pay the obligatory 4 squid p and p for an item that costs 8 squid. Tight i know.
What's a clay bar and how do you use it?
Did a search and read a post on this and it involves three hours of polishing - three hours!
Type 'detailer' into PH search and put your feet up. May cost more than 8 quid (plus p&p) but a better use of your time.
Perhaps some of us find car polishing a light form of catharsis....I always thought the full Porsche experience came with the expectation of some serious polishing action...

It'll picks up/grinds off loads of tiny little bits of debris that get stuck on your cars paint that washing/polishing won't remove.

Ravi, tight isn't the word to describe you!
After offering up my clay bar and nearly full bottle of application fluid, Ravi PM's me and asks if I could send it to him!! I'm happy for someone to pick it up but I'll be damned if I'm going to fork out for postage!

I nearly replied a little more constructively pointing out that once he had paid someone £5 or so to cover postage of half a litre of detailing spray he may as well go buy one but I thought "nah that's stating the obvious".. that's just unbelievable tbh!
I was following this thread to find out what a clay bar was, then thought there's an awfull lot of twaddle being written about the bloody thing, and what happens next, even waste some time contributing to it. How sad!
Looking forward to the weekend, got a big halfords superstore near home......need to check out the latest clay bars.

Seriously, are you not embarressed begging for a £10 freebie from people on a forum ?
Some people have just got no shame.
Buy it from a shop like everyone else.
Do you want some second hand toilet paper as well ?
There was a bloke at the railway station asking everyone today for 90p to buy some coffee because he didnt have a job.
Probably scrounges £50 a day.
Most people just ignored him.
I told him to "f**k off and get a job like the rest of us"loud enough so about 10 people could hear it.
Get my drift ?

I must be downhill as I am at the bottom bordering with Staffordshire, so it can only be down on the map :-)
In exchange I have my tax disc from the year before last that I no longer need?
you're all very funny - but how does this help the gnatt's-chuff tight OP??
i, on the other hand, have 'loads' of insects that've been squished by my bonnet - i'd happily donate these (hell, i'd even pay for postage, that's how generous i am). that way, the OP can scatter them on his car and then he'll really see what a difference the clay bar can make (assuming he's managed to scrounge one off someone in the last 7 months)

Don't worry about that. I'll open the doors and wait for a strong gust of wind to power me back up the hill. I can also use the kindly donated tax disc as a small but useable sail. Home Ahoy !!

OK, (and it kills me to say this), I have some old brake pads from my Golf I took out about a year ago. You can have them too. Why don't you call up your OPC and ask for a free service? They will probably give you a free valet why the car is in, that way you won't need to use a clay bar when you get the card back!
If Ravi was to put his mind to it, theres actually a profit to be made from his clay bar.
By claying his car and carefuly removing the grit from the bar, he could actually go into business selling Pork Scratchings.

So is it free to ski off piste?
Only if you follow this top tip on saving on ski lift passes.
You and a friend (assuming you have one) need to climb up a mountain that you can ski down on at least two sides. Attach a long length of rope between the two of you and then you have to ski down to the bottom of the mountain while your friend waits at the top. When you get to the bottom your friend can then ski down the other side of the mountain while simultaneously dragging you up the other.
Repeat as often as you like.
But the laws of physics and all that . . .
Wouldn't you have to have a Fat Mate weighing twice as much as you to pull you up as he (or she) goes down the mountain?
Where's Henry Firman?

Are you having the front bumper done only or you having the bonnet done too? My bonnet needs doing big time, how much is a respray?
Hi Woogie, I'm over in Ireland and got quoted 300 euro(240 quid) for front bumper and wing mirrors. Just the usual stone chips from 16k motorway miles. Bonnet is still very clean. Guy comes highly recommended and very reasonable.

Did you clay your car then? Good results?
Couldn't be bothered in the end so sold it! Hanging on to my motorbike in the meantime while I scout down a super cheap and super good 993!
Love to know if you find one Ravi that doesn't leave you re-mortgaging the house before too long
. Some very tasty one's in the classifieds, but the word 'cheap' wouldn't really describe them.

i'd never have guessed
If anyone is interested I gave my car a little too much right foot coming off a side road onto the A23 and left some black marks on the road. They are proper N rated Michelins so if you popped down there with a pallette knife you may be able to recover some rubber and stick it onto your wheels.
Just a thought....
Little Dave thats priceless i nearly wet meslf !

Apparently blu tack works just as well. Perhaps you could snaffle some from work or get the kids to steal some from school.

As a school teacher can I discourage this kind of advice. I jealously guard my stock of Blu-Tack and severe punishment is delivered to any small ratbag who tries to steal any.

I really hope you don't teach English.

Another classic post/thread.
Who remembers the one about washing a Porsche (Cayman R, maybe?) with Dove shower gel?
A thread that should be mandatory pre-reading before letting anybody onto this forum

Pleased to see this little thread rear it's ugly head again. I don't need one anymore BTW.
Did Ravi944 becomes RC1, to try and shake off the clay bar shame?
