Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

On a 996tt? I currently have the Pilot Sports N1 on the car and the rears are due for renewal soon although the fronts have a few thousand miles left in them. Whats the difference (apart from 50quid a corner) between the Pilot Sports and the PS2? Are the Rosso's worth considering? I know Porsche say don't mix N ratings or tyre types but in the real world whats the problem with running a different type front and rear for a few k miles?

POST 2Original post

Don't mix Tyres need to be friends.bite the bullet and put the set you wish for or run your fronts down with a new pair of matched rears £460 will get you a full set of goodyears if you are running 285s I have these on my c2 after a set of rosso's and find them equally as good. Just my opinion.

POST 3Original post

There is no possible problem whatsoever mixing tyre types front and rear (not same axle) on a 2WD. In fact those of us who bike will rarely have identical tyres front and rear, they have, after all, very different tasks to perform. There may be some issue on 4WD relating to the centre diff / transfer box / whatever, but this is at the limit of my knowledge

POST 4Original post

Hi adymars, Goodyear what? ...Have you a link to these tyres at that price please?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

295's on the turbo. To be honest I'm not really interested in other brands, although there's not a huge choice in that size anyway. I threw the Pirellis in as an alternative but the Michelins seem to be the best compromise of noise comfort and grip. The Pilot Sports seem to have performed well and were pretty much unbreakable at a recent airfield test. All I managed was a bit of understeer in the wet. So I guess the main question is what's the difference between these and the PS2's?

POST 6Original post

ACHTUNG, IMO Goodyears were/are the best tyre make never/rarely fitted to a Porsche(they had some on early 911's). If they had them available for the GT2 I'd fit them in a heartbeat. Fab in the wet or dry and not uber expensive. http://www.camskill.co.uk/brands/goodyear_eagle_f1_asymmetric_car_tyres.php

POST 8Original post

..I use the Rosso's on my GT2 and have done for approx 2 years. Not much to complain about except the rear last about 2,500 miles. Under hard driving the rear can get slightly loose but it's predictable and controllable. The Michelins can hold on a little bit longer but when they let go they really don't give you much warning about it. Big wide tyres on a GT2/Turbo in heavy wet are rubbish.......the GT2 and Turbo's stability can be seriously upset in standing water.......a bowel moving experience sometimes.

POST 14Original post

I can vouch for that!! I was NOT racing an M3 CSL at the weekend around a very tight sweeping left hander, totally dry, sunny day and obviously at the limit of the grip of the tyre. With no warning the back stepped out. I controlled it, but it was a second of adrenalin rush as there was no anticipation...!! uh:
