Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello all My 99 cabby tip is starting to stall, when I start the car in the morning, she fires up and then the revs seem to dip low, sometimes causing it to stall, then the other day I stopped at some traffic lights and while sitting in drive with my foot on the brake the car stalled. Anyone had the same problem or can shine some light on my issue? Thanks Gary

POST 2Original post

Being a '99 car, is it a C2 (mechanical throttle) or C4 (electronic throttle)? If it is a C2 it might be that the idle control valve needs cleaning or if it is a C4 then the throttle body and butterfly itself may need cleaning. (A C4 doesn't have an idle control valve).

Thanks for your help Richard. Gary

POST 6Original post

Had a very similar problem with my 99 cab tip a few years back. Turned out to be a faulty variocam actuator. Stalling happened mostly while reversing IIRC. Other symptoms were a bone shaking idle and down on power under acceleration.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
