Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that suspect a cause

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
If you replace the battery, before you disconnect it, switch the ignition on (but don't start the car) turn off as many loads as you can (a/c, radio, interior lights) and leave the key in that position until after you have reconnected the new battery.
Leading evidence: 'more technical answer' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'more technical answer' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Reconnect battery' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

If you do replace the battery then there is a lot of talk about getting a Bosch Silver from Costco who sometimes do a good deal on them.

Thanks Adrian,I was going to replace it this afternoon and just had a look at the handbook on replacing the battery and it tells you to re input the radio code!-so i chickened out. Will phone the garage where i bought it tomorrow and see if they can get the code.In the meantime its a great excuse to drive it every day!-just to keep the battery charged.

I rarely use my car (once or twice a fortnight) but I keep it attached to a battery conditioner which keeps it healthy.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Ive given up on the old battery now and will replace it this week.As I dont have the radio code Im a bit worried it will "lock out"Can anyone tell me pls?
Also im not 100% convinced the battery is the problem-2 days is the longest I can leave it without having to jump start it from the trusty Toyota.Has anyone any idea whether something could be draining the battery big style?(I dont have Tracker) Cheers Allan (2003 Targa)
Hi Alan. Two days does seem a little quick for your battery to go flat - especially if the car is being used regularly(?). Is the battery the original one? If so, it could be that the battery is just no longer holding its charge. I rarely use my car (once or twice a fortnight) but I keep it attached to a battery conditioner which keeps it healthy.
I don't think that you'll have a problem with your radio code as the car is programed to 'recognise' the original radio. (There is probably a more technical answer to this...)
If you do replace the battery then there is a lot of talk about getting a Bosch Silver from Costco who sometimes do a good deal on them. I don't have a Costco near me but I dare say that someone will point you in the right direction.
Adrian.

If your car is 2003 and you have the CDR-23 radio, then there is no code. It is electronically matched to the car.
If you replace the battery, before you disconnect it, switch the ignition on (but don't start the car) turn off as many loads as you can (a/c, radio, interior lights) and leave the key in that position until after you have reconnected the new battery. It stops the alarm siren sounding.
Recently purchased a CTEK Multi 3600 battery charger/conditioner for £42.50 delivered.
This not only charges and maintains your battery, but also claims to be able to restore knackered batteries, haven't had to prove this yet, though works well so far on the other functions.
Thanks for advice guys.I bought a new Bosch Silver battery at Halfords today.I was impressed when he plugged a gismo into the cigarette lighter and said it would power the radio so no need for the code!£129 fitted -I will keep fingers crossed for no more jump starting!
