Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have just purchased a 2011 Cayman with the Sound Package Plus. I bought it knowing the stereo made no sound, so question is, how do i fix it? Essentially there is no sound coming from the PCM3 unit [from any source]. I'm told there is most likely a problem with the Amp [ASK i believe] under the drivers seat. Can i just replace this amp and it''ll work? Is there more to it? i heard somewhere on a forum that the amp only carries 3 channels. Is that true? Where do the others come from? The PCM3 head unit functions totally fine. Could it be a fuse issue? Anyone else had this problem?

POST 2Original post

G'day @Hambo2000 and welcome to the forum. I found all the diagrams/schematics and other items that I was looking for via Dr Google, which in turn, led me to Rennlist and Pelican forums for these details. Good luck and enjoy the smiles per miles! Cheers

If it ends up being the ASK Amplifier, take it out and send it here. https://www.bergvillfx.com/categories/audio-amplifiers Tore in Norway is the expert. Extremely fast turn around from a very well known and trusted repairer. I have sent both my ASK Amplifier and a 964 CCU. I feel like they were back in my hands within 2 weeks. He will send you shipping note from his account. Super easy and fast.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks. Definitely a good option. I am also considering buying a Pioneer or Sony Amp and just having it rewired.

POST 5Original post

Unsure if it's the same as the 987.1, but the amp was in the area with the inflatior. Mine had a blown component. I fixed this, but the sound quality was poor. Amp can be swapped out for something good, but if you had Bose you needed more wiring.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
