Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Do I have a problem with my, ahem, horn? On exiting a dual carriageway to a service station last week, I pulled into the slip road, when I realised the car at the end of the slip road had just stopped for no apparent reason. I waited for a moment, and then when 3 more cars had stopped also rather suddenly behind me, I gave the car in front a blast of my horn, or should that be a tickle? This was the first time I had used, and heard the horn of my 996. My wife sat next to me laughing and I was utterly embarrassed by the pathetic pip that was supposedly alerting the driver in front to my presence. Have I a fault, the girly option horn, or are they all like this?

POST 2Original post

well there are actually 2 separate horns in the nose, a high note and a lower note and although the two together dont sound particilarly manly i recon one of yours is not working, the horns are about £21 each but you need to remove the bumper to replace. have a play and make sure you have a dual tone cheers tim

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for that, I think I can hear two tones, though they must be fairly close to each other in pitch as it isn't that obvious to me. I'll ask them to check when it goes in for some warranty work.

POST 4Original post

The horns are fairly vulnerable to road muck, especially in the winter as they are down low. I am on my second horn in two years! At the moment mine sounds really pathetic so my sympathies.

POST 5Original post

lol!! nowt worse than a horn that's as loud as a dying mouse..!!! I love my horn [996] and would consider aftermarket if the standard one's were piddly... my sympathies..
