Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I use my 996 daily, and do around 50 miles on the M6 every day - but that's why I bought it - I wanted something that made me smile as I drove to work ('cos I don't whan I'm there !). Anyway, after Jack Frost bit over winter, there are no end of dirty great pot holes all over the place, and I'm getting pretty good at avoiding them now. However, what I can't avoid is all the stone chips I appear to be getting this year. Is it just me, but I'm sure last winter was nowhere near as bad?
So, it's Seal Grey and I've just given it this years application of Auto Glym - but all the stone chips really show up. Most are on the front bumper, but there are now a couple on the bonnet.
Apart from having the front sprayed, is there any thing else that can help hide these stone chips?
In the past I had some 'Colour Magic' polish, that came with a wax crayon to suite that car - but that's whan I had a Basalt Black one.
Same here, picked up a double chip on my mint bonnet a couple of weeks ago, definitely from pothole rubble, I was lucky not to lose the windscreen too as it hit me between the eyes so to speak! My front bumper is terrible too, it was perfect when i got the car and remained so for 2 years, i then had a Cab Turbo reverse in to me and scuffed the bonnet. Had it done through his
insurance
so it went to Porsche Assured repair centre in Crawley. After 6 months I notice when polishing the car (normally done by valet) that several hairs were in the paintwork on the bumper. Took it back and also stated that it seemed to be chipping very quickly compared to my original bumper. They resprayed it as it is lifetime warranty, only to find even more shite sprayed into the finish. I was flabergasted and said so, to which the owners replied that i was being "unrealistic as to what is achievable with paint"!!! I dont think it unrealistic not to expect hairs and grit in a Porsche Assured paint job!! As i was too busy I left annoyed and didn't go back. Now six months on the bumper looks like it's been shot by air rifles, chips all over. I do 180miles a week, keep well back from the car in front and rarely need to go on the motorway and if I do the traffic is all behind me  . I appreciate that perhaps on PU they might not be able to bake to the same temperature if at all? But I have to say I am devastated and if I go back now they'll just say it's stone chips from normal driving and fob me off when I know this paint isn't as hard as was on there when i bought my 8 year old car. (and I doubt that was original paint as there wasn't a blemish on the PU at all!)
As well as a 911 enthusiast im also a OCD suffering detailer, the answer to your problem of stone chips is a Dr colorchip roadrash kit, ive used it myself on my lapis blue 911 and it made my bonnet look like itd just been resprayed.

Also its incredibly easy to use, you can literally smear it on with a cloth leave 10 mins and then remove excess with special solution and you are left with a great finish. As far as durability goes i did mine way over a year ago and its still looking great !
I've used Dr Color Chip which is quite effective. Another product I've heard good things about is Langka. Not cheap though.

They look pretty good, sound pretty much the same as each other, anyone ordered from the US or do they have a UK distributer? Definitely give it a go, thanks chaps.
I bought the Dr Color Chip direct from the US, but I just Googled Langka and found this UK site:
http://www.frost.co.uk/item_detail.asp?productID=8221
- although it isn't the complete Langka kit.
I ordered mine from the US and the service was great.
I love this product.
Look at the detailing world website there is a wealth of info on there and youll see some pictures as well.
Can you buy this in the UK?
Don't mind paying for a good product, but the $48 delivery charge seems rather high for something so light.
Regards
geehils
You can only get it from the states as far as i know mate.
All i can say is that i think its worth it. i went for the larger kit to make it worth while.
I have had a good look, and I can't find it either. I took a look at the web site, and it does look like good stuff - but $48 shipping !
I noticed that there is a 10% discount on orders of more than 1 kit, and the shipping charge only goes up $7 per item.
I'm definately going to get some, but does anyone else want to get in to a group buy?
I could be interested Andy.
Why don't you contact the sellers in the US and get an indication of a bulk buy price incl. shipping, say for 5 Road Rash kits and 10 Road Rash kits - in case you can't get 10 people to participate.
Once you have the info, you can post a separate thread on here.
Judging by othe group buys I have seen, 10 participants seems to be the min. threshold and cost usually works out to £60 each or £50 if you don't get hit by customs and VAT charges when it arrives in the UK (pot luck)
Frost do appear to do the full Langka kit for £30, but you have to supply your own touch-up stick.Whereas the Dr Color Chip includes the colour in the kit.

Paint Chip Repair Kit
I am tempted by the Langka kit because I have just purchased a new touch up, but it all makes me a little nervous. I would be interested to know if anyone has successfully used the Langka kit. In particular, in would be good to know if the results are as good as they claim, i.e. the panel looks like it has been completely repainted, or is it a case of just improving the results you would typically get with a conventional touch-up? Either way I am pretty useless at getting good results with touch ups any way, but this makes it sound worth a try.
