I have a
2011 987.2
Cayman
. Looking at an an
OBD
device. Anyone use or familiar with the PORII. Particular interest in live data and resets. Limitations? Better model? Thanks In advance
The
iCarSoft
PorII is the only scan tool I have experience with on these cars. It can read and reset just about everything on the car (most importantly the service reminders).
I haven't used it for reading data on my
Porsche
. But I also have an
iCarSoft
unit for my Volvos and it reads everything.
There are better scan tools for Porsches. But considering how cheap the
iCarSoft
is, and that it's not locked to a certain number of VINs, it's my preference.
Thanks, that is helpful. I had read that it can read live data with a PC so was just checking , thanks again
I'm also in the same situation as you... researching what to get for reading codes/reset service mostly. I am debating between the
iCARSOFT
CR Plus (not POR II) which works on alot of other manufacturers, and the
Autel
MD808 Pro. Any one have any experience with either?
So it looks like the durametric is the only unit that will change options and The PORII will so about everything else but that. .Correct?
Correct, that has been my experience.
Hi all,
This is my first post in this forum. My car is a 2010
Cayman S
3.4
PDK
, right hand drive. Two weeks ago I bought
iCarsoft
POR II because I want to diagnose an intermittent problem with the engine (PSM Failure). The POR II comes with latest software. I found out that POR II can not access
DME
menu, always got message " Fault in communication with vehicle
ECU
......." , but I can acces PSM, Tiptronic menus (Read DTC, Clear DTC, Live Data). In car selection menu I chose
CAYMAN
, also tried
BOXSTER
(987) but still can't access
DME
menu.
Any advise ?

I tried to contact
icarsoft
via emails a couple of weeks ago but I didn't get any response.
I went to an indy garage who has
PIWIS
, they can access
DME
so it means there is no problem with
DME
.
In conclusion
iCarsoft
POR II does not have capability to access
DME
in my
Cayman S
987.2
.
Recently had the same issue. I am guessing mine is plugs/wires, but would love to know for sure without having to get it scanned.
What did yours end up being?
