My 2014 987 Cayman S needs a new shoe! I'm currently running on GY Eagle F1 235/40Z R16 92Y I have a damaged sidewall and need to replace it. Is it a problem to use a the same tire but designated 94 instead of 92? I'm having trouble finding an exact replacement. Do the specs nave to be the same? Can I use a different brand?

You need to re-check your info. 987 production ended in 2013. 2014 was 981. Your wheel sizes are also out of whack... The 987 S used 18 or 19" wheels and the 981 S used 19 or 20" wheels. I don't think 16" wheels were ever offered on a Cayman. 92Y is the load rating ( Tire Load Index & Chart | Goodyear Tires ). Newer tire construction probably increased the load rating. You would be best to replace them as a pair rears/fronts unless the tire was practically new. For the last questions, it depends on how you drive your car. For "optimal performance", Porsche would say to use same tire brand/model and even N-rating. For average people, you're not going to notice the difference if you go to a different load rating/brand/N or non-N front vs. back. But, you're driving a Porsche. Having mismatched tire brands is tacky.

You're right. That was a major typo R19 is what I meant. The brand mix question was prompted by availability of the Eagles.
