Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Not having a cup holder has driven me nuts since day 1 of owning the car. Got a 3D printer a few weeks ago so thought I would have a newbie attempt at designing and printing one. It just slots in instead of the ashtray and is designed to hold a can/500 ml bottle size. Excuse the wild colour plastic, will prime and spray it to match the interior trim colour later.

POST 2Original post

Well that is excellent  Great use of a 3D printer, very neat indeed.

POST 3Original post

Digging your work but drinks in the car..... ye gods!

POST 4Original post

Have you done some calcs for how much lateral G it can handle? Sidewall doesn't look that high.... Hats off none the less. :worship:

POST 5Original post

My car had one of these when I bought it. Works very well. Surprisingly pricey though. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Genu...m=292786001623&_trksid=p2045573.c101006.m3226

POST 6Original post

Do you not have the 2 cup holder sliding tray in the dash? Also, like someone else said, the walls of the holder arent tall enough. From memory, most cup holders are half the height of a normal 330ml can

POST 8Original post

Ive yet to see a 3D printer in real life but they certainly seem like a fascinating bit of kit. Nice job though .. alternative here if needed .. https://www.porscheshop.co.uk/cup-holder-996-boxster-o-s.html

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just a prototype print and was the crazy translucent orange filament I had to hand. Final version will be painted to match trim. I dont have the holes in the dash vents to fit the oem cup holders. Cup wall height might be increased if I look like I pissed my pants after a spirited drive lol.

POST 12Original post

Does it work well, have a 3d printer and was thinking of making something similar there, but looks like it's not tall enough to work and if it was tall enough would then get in way.

POST 14Original post

That's very 8) I'll take a Grey one please :thumb:

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have uploaded the 3D file below. You can easily tweak the design using something like Tinkercad (free online cad program) to make it taller or wider. https://www.tinkercad.com My file: https://www.filehosting.org/file/details/769962/911 cup holder(2).stl
