Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey friends,
Has anyone tried upgrading to a brighter/more modern headlights?
I saw options like Stedi that make LED headlights which claim to be a direct replacement:

I have also seen that some people say that H4s are a better option.
So I thought I'd see if people here had tried alternatives to get a bit more visibility out of these older lights and what people here might recommend.
Cheers
I don't know where you are based so I include this for what it is worth.
Early 911 lights are pretty pathetic and I'm being kind. My car is serviced by Buchanan's and Sean and Bruce are really knowledgeable. Bruce is a fountain of 928 knowledge. Sean is really on the ball and clued up electrically as well as all things Porsche. He changed the lights on my 911 for the Stedi conversion. There's a marked improvement with less current draw.

Yeah driving the 928 home from Sydney I noticed the headlights were nearly useless except when I was in pitch black darkness on country roads. Everywhere else they might as well have been set to parking lights.
Buchanan automotive is a 3 day journey for me haha.
I'm down in Tas but I can install them myself. It sounds like they are worth the upgrade.
Thanks mate!
It occurs to me now I've got the Stedi LED headlights that my '81 has 8" lamps and Stedi sell 7".
Does anyone happen to know what can be done to mount 7" headlights? I was told that you can get the trim rings for an early US model but I can't find a list of what I'd actually need.
Alternatively, is it more practical to try pull the globe out of the existing lights and replace them with an LED?
