Suggestion

The easiest place to fit the Dension in a 987 seems to be in the front luggage compartment, but there is still the need to run the Dension microphone inside the cabin.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I've just bought a Boxster 987S, which is fitted with PCM2.1, Bose, CD Changer, phone module and multi-function steering wheel. I want to fit a Dension 500S to get USB mp3 playback and Bluetooth phone. I've been searching for a few days, but can't find the definitive answer - where is the best place to install the Dension, and how well does it integrate with PCM? I have an earlier Dension fitted in my BMW, so I am used to using it as a replacement for the CD changer. The BMW has bluetooth as standard, so I didn't need to use the Dension for the phone. The easiest place to fit the Dension in a 987 seems to be in the front luggage compartment, but there is still the need to run the Dension microphone inside the cabin. Another option seems to be to fit the Dension under the seat, in place of the phone module, and to bypass the CD changer. There is conflicting advice about leaving the phone module in place, removing the phone module, or removing the phone module and having it deleted from the PCM options by a Porsche dealer. All very confusing. I'm looking for advice on how to install it to get the best integration with PCM and the steering wheel buttons.

POST 2Original post

I installed one in my '06 CS, but I don't have PCM, so I can't help you much. I put the unit behind the center stack, of course the radio had to come out to swap the fiber optic cables.

POST 3Original post

It tucks behind the PCM unit. This video will walk you through the instal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QT6M0SZ7k8c
