This will inevitably result in prices rising next year as demand increases and supply dwindles especially as we are coming to the end of production although this is anticipated to be slightly curtailed by the economic backdrop we are facing however Porsche GTs obviously will be one of the most resiliant used cars at the money.

The longer ratios everyone complain about seem absolutely fine for me, on road or track, but I'm not expecting to redline it in every gear on the road or set BTCC qualifying time laps around UK circuits.

Hi guys,
Looking for some advice, I sold my 991.2 GTS several months ago and want to get into another Porsche.
A GT4 has been playing on my mind for a couple of months now and I've seen this advertised at Porsche Bolton..
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/2022060264...
In terms of specification, would this still hold a good resale value if I was to sell after a year or 2 with around 2k miles pa?
Thanks
Im paying close attention to this thread.
Sold my Lotus last week to get one of these been keeping my eye on these for a few weeks. Away on holiday for a couple of weeks and will buy one when i get back.
If you like the colour it is a good spec and mileage at around £7k over list when new.
Whether you want ceramics on a CS GT4 is personal choice.
Unsure whether it has climate or manual aircon most buyers want climate on the 718 GT4.
Bear in mind it will require its first £1k 2 year service shortly so try to get Bolton to do this as part of the deal.
Despite there being quite a few GT4s for sale not necessarilly of the right spec etc btw with the imminent end to 718 GT4 production imo these will hold their value well not forgetting Porsche GT values are inextricably linked including the 981 GT4 and particularly 991.1 GT3 both of which are holding up remarkably well even at 7 years old with mileage.
718 GT4 at £100k a great package at the money and as a rapid road car not far behind the 991.2 GT3 for pace and overall driver involvement tbh.

Definitely AC. Not climate.

That listing is approaching 5 months old. Not withstanding the price (as you'd never get that again for it after 2-3 years of ownership) it is obviously not a hugely desired Gt4. If it was then it wouldn't have been hanging around for 5 months. It isn't desired now, and it won't be in 2 years unless priced to sell fast. So, I would say no, it won't hold a good resale value.

Remember when you couldn’t give away a green 997.1 GT3RS?
Now the most sought after colour.
Tastes change over time.

If you are getting good vibes off the color/spec then go for it...
Bid on it...if you get it enjoy it and it's worth what it's worth when you finish with it.
BTW, it's not a crime to customize the interior a bit - seat belts and seat insert colors...

Can’t comment on the spec as I’m not an expert, but as above have you driven one? I went back to the 911 after thinking the GT4 was for me. It’s an amazing car without a doubt but I missed all the 911 idiosyncrasies and being a lanky git the buckets were extremely uncomfortable for me.
If you’re intending to use it on the track it’s probably perfect though.
Thanks for all the comments guys.
I've not had the chance to drive one as the dealers I have asked do not allow the GT cars to be test driven.
The car will be for weekend use really, but I do intend to do a couple of track days to experience what these cars are designed for.
I know the colour is not everyone's taste, but I like uniqueness, and likely there are not many numbers in Python Green. But then there's the debate between manual and PDK, which I'll not start! 🤣
They are pretty hung on price, so I'll see if I can fight further on the pricing and see if the service can be done.
Some are forgetting that whilst there are currently are a decent supply of used 718 GT4s now approaching the winter months this is typically an annual and seasonal feature of the Porsche GT market.
What will happen is the better provenance low owner spec mileage and priced cars will sell between now and Spring to enthusiasts and the weird spec less attractive cars will hang around same as they always do. This happened with the 981 GT4 and in part contributed to the very strong prices they still command today with even 7 year old examples with mileage attaining over list price ££ which is clearly having a positive affect on the 718 market too as previously posted. This will inevitably result in prices rising next year as demand increases and supply dwindles especially as we are coming to the end of production although this is anticipated to be slightly curtailed by the economic backdrop we are facing however Porsche GTs obviously will be one of the most resiliant used cars at the money.
The other aspect is that whilst there are more manual 718 GT4s for sale than PDKs, over time it will inevitably be the manual drivers cars e.g. Porsche GTs which will attain the premium prices over PDKsas we move away from manuals with EV production ramping up in fact it is occuring now with the GT3 despite approx parity of transmission on the 991.2 as enthusiasts hang on to their manual cars longer v PDK and we are seeing this now with the hugenumber of flipped PDK GT4s hitting the market already.

This was something i have definitely been considering, i did think about buying the 981 GT4 and spending some cash on the gearbox mod to reduce the ratios a little.
Upping the budget for a PDK was also a thought.
So paying attention right now to whats happening, i have noticed a few cars have reduced prices in the last week. JZM Silver PDK has come down 3k for example.

Porsche Sheffield was the most recent to have denied GT test drives.

That's probably why they, as I just browse from my phone.
Could it be that the market is just genuinely quiet due to inflation, cost rises etc? Alot of cars are not moving, but it could just be down to people not wanting to make purchases due to what we're all experiencing.

I knew a salesman once who admitted Google map checking peoples addresses, before deciding to allow high end test drives.
He felt that he caught a lot of tyre kickers doing that .
Therefore, if you look like you have the means, I am surprised.

I think you’d perhaps have difficulty convincing many in the industry regarding your analysis of pdk vs manual in the futures market.
There are considerably more manuals for sale - if you put pdk in the search normally about 75% of GT4’s listed disappear .
Also, much of the motoring press declared the pdk was simply better suited in the 718 gt4 than the manual ie: it had an extra gear and many such as Autocar said it made a great car even better.
Subsequently not quite sure why everyone in the future will apparently be yearning for the manual gearbox?
I’ve been looking for a 991.2 GT3 and the manual cars don’t seem to be flying out the showroom any more than the pdk- it depends on the general spec such as colour and buckets blah blah

Well the Porsche is certainly a great bit of engineering, and my wallet was not fried by the experience, so no harm at all trying it out - More people love GT4’s than not, so most likely my weird taste was the biggest influence
In my opinion yes, and the manual 'box is also superb on track for me. Much more unpredictable and interactive than a microswitched paddle, something you have to work at, but that's what makes it so good IMO.
YMMV, other opinions are available etc etc.
Yep I agree with Twinfan.
Superb weekend car in fact I have used mine more than my 991.2 GT3 manual of late.
The icing on the cake of course is the manual gearbox which is almost as good as the GT3s and one of Porsches finest providing driver involvement in spades which PDK GT4 drivers can only dream about.
:
Yes the GT4 ratios are slightly long but the 718s torque at lower revs and proper Porsche GT bespoke engine with 8k rev limit v the 981 means this is really of little significance.
Not really a GT engine I'm afraid, it's not used anywhere in racing, but it's a fabulous piece of kit.
The longer ratios everyone complain about seem absolutely fine for me, on road or track, but I'm not expecting to redline it in every gear on the road or set BTCC qualifying time laps around UK circuits. On track, gears 2/3/4 do most of the work and give a decent enough lap time to not be a mobile chicane.
Even for a very average driver like myself
I like that OP ..... Looks a clean car. Colour is subjective and the PCCB`s will be fine on track provided you dont do hundreds !!
The only thing that I didnt see which I would want sorted within the price is that it says it has harnesses as its a CS car. Cannot see them fitted in any of the pictures ?? Be aware that many spec Clubsport but then never ask the dealer to fit them which is a win win for the dealer as its a PITA to do !! They end up with the harnesses left in their boxes in the frunk normally. You will also need a fitting kit which the supplier OPC normally deals with. Just something to be aware of.

I have an 981 Gt4 and an Elise (hand many Lotus over the years ). I would say you should try the 981 variant and for me the steering is much better than the 718 plus it’s sounds better imo and is a bit more raw on the whole. Watch PH Dan prossier(sp?) video on the subject.

OP - I see it was removed from the OPC website this lunchtime as sold, did you strike a deal?
I was close to a deal, but looks like someone beat me to it 👍
OP, my 2p for what it's worth...
Good spec car, but it's hung around longer than others because;
- it's at the very top end of manual car pricing, because it has all the big ticket items PCCBs, Buckets, CS pack, PDLS+, Leather Dash, Special Paint.
- it will depend majorly on your personal driving usage and tolerances. CS pack means a rattly/stiffer cage/ride for the predominantly road user. PCCBs mean replacement/service costs are a key factor for a predominantly heavy track user.
PDK v manual is personal. I preferred PDK when test driving both so I ordered a PDK, but others swear by manual, nobody is right or wrong.
Colour is subjective, but as I was reminded when I ordered and I was hesitating on wether I should take the plunge, there will always be a buyer for the brighter colours, regardless, so spec what you want and don't have any regrets. I went with Python and I love it, it makes me smile every time I walk out of my front door, and as a 3rd 'fun' car for me I think it deserved to be a 'fun' colour. If I was using the car as a daily, I'm not sure I would have it though, but then again I'm not sure I would daily a GT4 (again personal taste).
As we move into the winter months, you can expect stock to slim down and the choice to narrow. If you're buying for an investment, nobody knows TBH, don't spend what you can't afford to lose and if you break even/profit at the end of your ownership you can see it as a bonus.

Maybe Julian has bought it. He’s been talking up the prices of Cayman Rs and talking down the price of GT4s so perhaps he’s managed a straight swap
BobM said:
Irrespective of the GT4 market, the car will have £10-15k dealer margin in the price, so keeping for a year you'll lose at least that much.
Spot on, in a year expect to loose 15k and that’s if our economy doesn’t plummet

Clearly shows how active the GT4 manual market still is even at over £100k and at this time of year when demand is meant to be slowing.
I have been looking for a 718 gt4 pdk in preferably shark blue or similar, but would prefer to buy privately . There doesn’t seem to many pdk for sale at the moment.

Really lovely!
I don't normally like red, but yours with the gold wheels and black PCCBs looks the business.

Great spec at a very fair price!
Best colour too!

Got to be the highest spec 718GT4 I've yet seen. Even though there are 30+ 718GT4s currently for sale at OPCs, when you narrow it down to very high spec ones with CS, PCCBs and LEDs you've only got 3-4 at best.

I know the original owner and that car had every option box ticked I believe.
I thought I'd gone a bit mad on spec, but he literally wanted EVERYTHING.

Manual AC
So what? I have manual air con in mine and drove it in the summer heat without issue or problem. If it’s hot the air con is on, if it’s not hot then it’s off.
Putting aside the fact I think climate should be standard on an £80k+ car!… unless you’re using it as a daily or regularly cruising for miles & miles, then I personally think climate is a waste of money and is just Porsche tax.

Each to their own, but I 100% agree with this.

Well done Sir. Hope collection is soon.
I’ve had the £500 + option of dual climate control on several of my previous Porsches and can confirm I haven’t used it once.
Complete nonsense Porsche tax imho
The wife loves to continually f-about with the temperature in our cars so dual climate gives her the scope to get on with it whilst my part of the car remains relatively peaceful. Think my ideal world is dual controls but only the driver's actually work.

could someone confirm these are definitely the led lights and not the black bi xenon’s?
Yup they are the LED PDLS+
The four dots on Xenon PDLS are narrow and surround the single cone of Xenon light.
LED PDLS+ has 3 lighting elements and the 4 dots are not actually dots but are narrow LED pieces at the very edge of the unit.
Xenon PDLS also has a smoked lens, LED PDLS+ is totally clear.
The LED PDLS+ unit is very complex:

Am I the only one that thinks the xenon option looks better?
Nope…. You’re not alone.
I have the PDLS+ because I wanted all the functions, but actually for a lot of colours, PDLS does actually look better. I like the 4 DRL dots closer together.
Thanks kmpowell, that was very helpful. Assume this means the car has the camera that would make speed limit assist/display possible to be retrofitted.

I'm not sure about retro-fitting, but yes the camera for the PDLS+ sits to the left(when sat in the car) of the rear-view mirror at the very top of the windscreen:

Porsche Sheffield was the most recent to have denied GT test drives.
I suspect they will be cold calling customers offering them test drives soon...
I hope so!
I was planning on buying when i get back at the end of October, but maybe ill hang on a little longer till December/January time to see what happens.. its winter so not like i would miss out on enjoying it.
I have noticed a few cars start to decrease in price recently.
i was in a Porsche dealership last weekend, the apprentice pulled up the master list of cars that are in stock and are coming in, there was quite a lot of information on it. One was a note of the history of the price of the car, reductions and time in stock.
My budget is more of a top end of a manual car or lower end PDK. Maybe waiting will allow me to get a better spec PDK car.

Thanks guys, don't generally go for red, but thought this looked the business.
Given the specification, as well as having full PPF, it was a no brainer not to go for it.
Got a really good deal too from the guys at Bolton.
Collection Saturday, hopefully it's sunny 😎

Either that or losing business! Shame really as its my local OPC.
Cannot fault the service from Porsche Bolton. Brad was fantastic throughout.
Thankfully the sun stayed out on the way home, so I could enjoy a spirited drive back through the snake pass.
Cannot beleive how raw the GT4 feels to past cars I have owned, truely stunning machine. So glad I went for the manual box now!
