I believe that they are the largest automotive electronics repair facility in the country and they just happen to be located near me.

Funny enough over the two years i had the car I thought it was just the way the
Cayman
stereo sounded but after replacing the CDR-24 with a
Kenwood
6990 and thinking it didnt' really make any real difference i discovered that I've probably never had the large door speakers working.
The question I'm pondering is whether to replace with OEM or go aftermarket and if I go aftermarket should i go for something like a 6 channel amp and power all the speakers with this or should i just go with 2/3 channel Amp and deal with powering the door subs. I assume most ignore the center dash speaker at this point...
Any advice appreciated and welcome.. and yes... did quite a bit of searching but most posts deal with
BOSE
retrofits.

If you decide to stick with the ASK amplifier, I have a repair service for these. Have done a lot of them, they have a design weakness in the internal power supply.

As a follow up.. I ended up purchasing a new ASK amp for $336.00 with the PCA discount from local dealer and have sent the sick amp to Tore in Norway for repair and to use as backup. Very reasonably priced service and only downside would be a few weeks downtime in shipping it to and fro...
After evaluating the situation this seemed to be cost effective and kept the factory wiring intact. May still do a 6 channel JL AudioAmp at some point but I'm probably going to be pleasantly surprised how good the stock system sounds with working subs/woofers

I had recently changed the stock
cdr24
to a
pioneer
2400bt, it was night and day. Today I changed out the dash tweeters to infinty reference 075tx
(no to hard to do-the crossovers are small). Its now has awesome full sound.
I kept the stock ASK amp and I have the sound package plus system.
For the most part the stock speakers are good except the dash tweeters.
Currently satisfied, however may change amp in the future.

Should receive amp back this week but my experience with Tore has been excellent. Prompto and very good communication on letting me know cost, how to send it in, status of amp, etc... Saw that he responsded to your PM but I never had any issues getting in touch with him.

Just a quick update to say that I sent and received back my amp to Tore and have been very satisfied with the whole process. If you have this issue with the amp I would highly reccomend him!!

Hi Tore, I may be in need of your repair service. I've upgraded my in-dash headed unit a couple years ago and it's been working fine. Today though, the sound started acting terribly. No treble and very loud bass even though there volume is almost off. Is this the symptom of the deeded ask failure?

I had my ASK amp fixed by United Radio Service in East Syracuse, NY. I believe that they are the largest automotive electronics repair facility in the country and they just happen to be located near me. They fixed the amp for a flat rate of $250 and gave me a one year warranty. I know that these amps are pretty unreliable, but it's been a couple years now and it's still working perfectly.
