I am planning on purchasing a CPO 2006 CS that doesn't come with either of these options and I was wondering if these can be installed. I have also seen the PCM term used quite a lot while doing some research, but I am not sure what it is, how it is related to bluetooth, etc.
By the way, as far as bluetooth I am not interested in any tack-on external solution, but a fully integrated one that announces and displays caller's name on the HU, allows you to dial from the car, lowers radio volume when a call comes in, etc.
And as far as iPod adapter, I am looking for a similar setup that allows you to pick songs from the radio HU (or steering wheel), displays the song name, etc.
I don't even know if this is how the Porsche options work. Please clarify these things for me.
Thanks in advance.
To do all of those things, you will need a factory PCM unit and an aftermarket Bluetooth solution.
If the car does not have PCM, it can be added. It’s expensive. Here is an article showing how to install one. Not that you will necessarily do this yourself, but it shows the unit and a bit about how it works.

If the car does not have PCM, a radio/CD player will occupy the spot that PCM takes (PCM had radio and CD as well). You can see a picture of the radio in the above article.
After you get PCM, you’ll need an aftermarket Bluetooth kit. PCM doesn’t do Bluetooth (there is an option to have PCM read your SIM card, but that means taking the card out of your phone and putting it in the PCM, and vice-versa, every time you drive. Most people think this is a stupid solution.) Here is an article showing how to do one of the various Bluetooth solutions, with some idea of how it works:

Do some searches for PCM and Bluetooth and you will find much more info.
First of all, thank you for all that useful information. Up until now, I did not understand that PCM was the actual head unit itself and that when they list "PCM + Navigation", navigation only means the GSM part of it, but not the screen and system. So PCM is like Mercedes-Benz's COMAND. The difference is that COMAND can be had without GPS, whereas this does not seem to be possible with Porsche.
Anyways, from that link, it looks like PCM + Navigation is $4K and that's only the part. So much for negotiating this as part of the price of the car.
I guess my question is... Can I have a fully integrated bluetooth AND iPod system using the standard, non-PCM head unit? If so, any links, prices, etc.?
Thank you once again.
There’s the “Parrot,” but it is more of a ‘tack-on external solution” than it is a “fully integrated one that announces and displays caller's name on the HU.”
Do a search of the “Cayman Electronics” area for “parrot” to learn more. I don’t know much about it.
Are you sure the car you are interested in does not have PCM?
Also search for “Dension.” They do a iPod adapter that may not require PCM. The people that make the Tooki, Nav-TV, also have an iPod adapter.
On my 2001 Boxster I used a hardwire to connect my Ipod through the AUX input on the back of the deck. It did not recognize the Ipod on the screen , But It was the best sounding solution, no distortion or interference. Is this possible with the a Bose or Non bose Radio? Thanks
