I tend to keep on top of stuff and am not one of those people who posts "my cars 4 years old shall I not bother with changing the plugs" etc etc and then only has a service every 2 years and runs pads till the metal rubs on the disks !!!

There's now 10 Spyders for sale on PistonHeads. Are these all from owners with deposits on the 981 Spyder? Is there enough of a market for the 987 or has it now been 'flooded' in anticipation of the new model. Anyone sold recently at the kind of prices being advertised. Not selling mine, but interested in how the market is looking from the perspective of owners.
Five manual cars as well and a spread from £39-50k.
Many seem to be sticking. Potential buyers are probably holding off to see what happens to prices when the new 981 Spyder arrives.
Be interesting to see if prices soften as some of those moving to a 981 Spyder look to shift their 987 Spyder.
only 3 nice ones and 2 of those are £50k which is to rich it seems for 2015.
Hippo one seems best value/spec etc and nice miles.
the 2 £50k ones need to be £45k
I would not call the market flooded, just more choice I think PDK is dead on this car though, but many don't.

I guess relative to the 237 UK 987 Spyder available 10 on PH's is a lot, especially as it's a fairly niche model.
So mr gt4 if your car was on the market you would be talking prices up not down and you would be saying your car is worth £55k!
Anyway my car is one of those up for sale and I am not flipping for the new Spyder,I had the option to purchase a new Spyder (1st on list at OPC)but was going to pull my deposit then luckily got confirmation on a gt4 slot if that had not materialised no way would I be selling my car for the new Spyder!imho I would have been mad to flip my Spyder for the new one as I am of the opinion that although I don't have the faster car I have the prettier and probably long term the more valuable spyder! If I could afford to keep and purchase the gt4 there is no way I would sell it but the gt4 is something I have always wanted in a Cayman !
If I had a CR I would most certainly flip for a gt4 as I have always been of the opinion that the 987 Spyder has been more special than the CR hence why I moved from caymans to the Spyder and did not purchase a CR.

Same amount roughly of 991gt3 in the UK but 50 for sale and prices are over 3x as much!
It is not surprising how many cars are up for sale with the arrival of the new cars the same thing happened with the 997.2 gt3 cars on arrival of the 991 gt3 but look what happened to 997.2 gt3 prices £80k at the time for a low mileage car to what?
I am not saying the 987 Spyder is in the same league as a gt3 but it is a very special and unique porsche if it had a 911 badge you would be talking prices well in excess of £100k!

It's been up for sale about 10 days and most want to offer mid 40s but I am in no hurry to sell, and when I compare with the others for sale IMHO it's the best one on the market so it has to be worth a premium over ie a 20 k mile car @ £45k

Perhaps the 20k mile car should be £40k!

I thought they would be sellable at £50k in 2015 but the market is a bit weary, £45k seems top value and what I would ask for mine if it was for sale.
987.2 Spyder is a very special car but £45k seems max 2015 price. That's just being a realist.
I would love to see cars selling at £50k and maybe they will in 2016, but as it stands today it's dreamers money.
miles is key after the big 4 most wanted spec items which can be seen on 30k miles cars at £39k to 2k miles car at £50k
As I said the hippo car seems best value for the spec atm and nice miles.
And while your is the best for sale today, it's not worth £7k more than that one, if some one has offered £45k I would take it with out thinking.
Edited by PorscheGT4 on Saturday 13th June 11:20
My brother had a solid offer of £45k on his a month ago (white, stock, manual with PSE & chrono. About 8k on the clock IIRC). Didn't take it, but then I don't think he's bothered to sell it now.
So for the right car I'd still say £45k-50K is realistic.

if he got offered £45k with those low miles, then how is £50k realistic ?
As I said £45k seems all the max people want to go to atm.
£50k does sound a bit ambitious for any Spyder/Cayman R even from a dealer.
If you're being offered £45k as a private seller then that's a good fair price for a well specced immaculate Spyder. Dealers might likely get higher prices, but still doubt £50k.
It is easier to come down on a price than to go up!
If I advertised my car at £45k and it sold in 24 hours I would have wished I advertised for more so it's better to start high although I knew nearly £50k is ambitious but not so when high milers ie 26k are nearly £47k ! or a car priced at £45k has the wrong wheels which would be £4k to replace. So perhaps in hind sight £48.5 k would have been a more realistic starting price!
I 'sold' mine for £45k last month but when I was informed my build slot had moved from July to Oct I withdrew as I didn't want to be without a car over the summer.
Still got interest at higher price via dealer as at that price level there's very few buyers with cash, they're looking for finance and/or part ex. Didn't leave it long enough with him to close out a deal as I decided to sell to private buyer who had the offer in with me for a few weeks.
Be going back on the market in Sept and given the spec I'm still confident I'll get £45k, it's got the big four plus PCCB and only 11k.
itsybitsy, is yours the white one in Essex? I was tempted, but as others have said, I feel the ceiling price is around £45k on the best ones. Lovely car though, perfect for me!
11 now for sale, think sales are slowing on these as only the 911v one has sold of late, im not counting the red one bought by the trade. A few months back these were selling pretty much as soon as they were advertised

Nonsense IMO, all cars have taken time to find their right level on price subject to spec, mileage, condition etc. Yes there are more, perhaps due to 981 or people cashing in on appreciation, but more doesn't mean demand is slowing.
Not sure what's your motive to suggest otherwise.
There are buyers out there with cash to spend but not that many. A lot of buyers as stated need to part ex or get finance and as such cars from OPC or specialists like 911V will sell quick. To get top price 45-50K you need a "top" spec car, with under 10000 on the clock, full 4 year service, 12 months OPC warranty. most cars appear to be in white and appears to be the safe colour to buy. Then the other "desired" bits, buckets, exhaust, spyder wheels and manual. All the other nice extras are just a bonus. I usualy sell my cars to the trade, you do not get as much but it is quick, no hassle and they can offer finance and part ex and shift them quick but that is just me, who needs joy riders and tyre kickers. There is a buyer out there for all of these Spyders for sale and they will all be pleased owing a true Porsche classic

£45k private, I'd expect a dealer to be pushing £50k for the same car. But from a sellers perspective, £45k is extremely realistic.

No that much fun really, and I did not like the new bit either, had more of a laugh in my mates £2k worth of clio lol
You in the GTS I take it.
Track was messy also, off line mega amount of rubber, so over takes you just picked up all the s

tyres are still covered in other people s

I stopped going out in fact.
Def won't be going back.
might retire this car from track days, it's worth to much to wreak ;-(
So your 987 Spyder will require a £10k refresh shortly.
A tracked 987 Spyder must be worth at least £10k less, than a road only car.

Strange! As you know I run a Sharkwerks Bypass on my GTS and ended up putting it in loud mode with zero problems. Only short shifted past the noise meter on the infield straight before you come back past the pit enterance, just in case.
But my mate in the sapphire blue GTS got a warning for noise. Not sure if he had his exhaust on loud or quiet though.
Didn't really have an issue having to run onto the marbles, to be honest. Only place I saw copious amounts was on the right hand side of the left hander of the Palmer Curves. Only an issue for those pulling over to the right to let faster cars past.
Did get twanged by a few chunks of rubber, but that has always been the case at any track you go to. It comes off easily enough. There was more there than usual which surely has to be down to the corporate event just prior.
As for tyres, yes they do pick up a lot of s
t. Though have to say my Cup2's were pretty immense. In fact that reminds me I need to go and stick some air in them.
If you change your mind and are there at the July one, come and say hello.
Jack
Might take the ST round for a hoon :-) , do some daft lift off over steer 3 wheel antics.
I still think the track was a mess, never seen so much rubber off line.
PS I do run hi flow manifolds, hence the noise and WOT just reopens the flaps.

ST would be a laugh!
Not sure which car to take to the next one. If it's lagging it down I'm definitely taking the C63
The marshals were definitely far more drift-friendly this time than the last few times I've been, hehe.
The GTS was pretty good for a completely stock geo. The TPC PASM module is pretty cool. Jethro really liked it. Car felt plenty fast enough and keeping the sessions short to avoid overheating the brakes seemed to work well too. No issues on that front. Though looking under the car these newer motors do have a significant number of improvements in the brake cooling department than the 996 GT3 had. Must help a lot.
Like I said, I didn't really have an issue personally with the marbles.

Only place I saw copious amounts was on the right hand side of the left hander of the Palmer Curves. Only an issue for those pulling over to the right to let faster cars past.

How heavy was the line used?

I also hit some ones bumper which has marked the car.
say what
some one bumber fell off, people were driving over it. I swerved one bit hit another, left tiny mark on lower splitter could have been worse.
down the back straight you are off line for 1km over taking on the left was always loads of rubber, so if you over take a lot of cars you hit a lot of rubber. ;-)
If you did not over take any thing then you stay on line, the talk before was slower cars stay on line if being passed, the faster cars have to go off line to pass.
But as I said I would rather go slower and stay on line, plus was short shifting, so not a great night imo, did not even drive the last hour !
I act saw rocks on the track in the new section , and a M5 was drifting off track every bend and throwing loads of s
t up. and I mean off track by 3 cars widths on some bends.

How much do you think that this type of track driving devalues the car - 20-30%?

makes it go up in value lol, buy one which is used as intended or buy a oiled cloged up one which sits in que's all day to work and needs walnut blasting on all the engine parts at 30k miles ;-p, get washed goes back In the garage wet and rusts to bits not used ! lol
being serious, 2 track days a year say 100 miles on track is not even worth worrying about.
None of these cars are track hacks doing >3k miles on track a year.
I thought the track was poor, so did 3 x 4 laps and spent the rest of the night in my mates Clio.
As always buy on condition, todays OPC mint car was yesterdays track hack, who knows what you are buying unless you buy new ?
you tend to find people who use the cars tend to look after them 3x more than the cars which only see a OPC every 2 years.
I think most R and Spyder's see a track day or two PA, when I joined PCGB a lot of Spyder guys met up on a track day and took the cars round !
Even how rare I go on track days there is always a Spyder there, or if I go and look Spyders turn up and go on track.
People enjoying their cars I guess.

I think that was a carbon splitter off the silver E92 M3.... A few people hit that.
I didn't think the rubber on the back straight was bad at all and passed plenty of cars
Like I said, worst marbles were on the Palmer Curves.
A couple of trackdays a year is nothing to these cars. They aren't being raced and the stints are normally very short. And like MrD said, I've always found that people who track their cars are far more likely to keep on top of maintenence than those that only use the car as a Sunday driver. My cars are fastidiously maintained in every area and I'd wager you'd never find a more mechanically sound car than one of mine.

The GTS looked/sounded well, shame I did not know it was you, would have popped over.
I keep thinking about chilling out and buying a GTS CAB ;-)
4S PDK, obviously then.
