Help!! I'm installing the new Avic-900BT, I got both the CANBUS and bezel from Ebay, did all the wiring acording to the diagram and got the CDR24 out (Thank you all for your posts, otherwise would have been a nightmare!), I noted in the CDR24 that I have more cables than I thought, including the fiber optic cable, my car is not bose.
Connected everything but the unit will not start? Will the presence of the fiber optic cable will mean that my stereo is premium audio or somethig alike?? (Got my cayman used). Any clues?? It seems that I got no power? I matches the cables of the CanBus to the ones in the wiring of the car (blue and yellow) but again no power?
HELP!!
The fiber cable is in every Cayman, you can just leave it aside. The probable reason your unit won't start is because you haven't connected the accessory lead to a switched fuse in the fuse box.
Thanks sunnet! I thought that it was not needed with CanBus, will give it a try tomorrow and post pictures of the final install. Avic-900BT looks awesome!
pics of install? i'm looking into getting this unit as well
From an old dog who's obviously ebay challenged. Where did you find the bezel and whatever CANBUS parts needed to match up? I've looked and got nowhere.
Also, does anyone make MOST BUS bits to make this unit work with Bose?
And yes I'm interested in the pix too.
Thanks,
I have the F90BT in my R32 and want to use in my CS as well.....any info on your installation parts would be great.
I got this unit when it debuted and it was buggy, there is new software and any box with a blue dot means its the latest software equipped FYI.
It's a great unit graphics wise, a little slow on boot up ( about 30 seconds) but overall a very good unit. BTW The Bluetooth...sucks.
Greywolf, they have not been on ebay for quite some time... I would get in touch with this company as they seem to be carrying the same product:
Installation Kits > Porsche - Porsche 911(997) BOXSTER(987) Cayman 2DIN DASH KIT - Car Navigation/Audio CONTACT -Pro Shop-
To change the headunit with Bose, you will no longer be able to use the Bose amplifier because it only accepts fiber optic MOST signals. You can still just wire the speakers up to the headunit or add a multichannel amplifier, you can search Bose aftermarket install and see some examples.
Thanks for the info, one question, did the fitment kit match the color of the center stack?
TIA
