Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Guys
I'm getting my split rims refurbed in a few weeks time and am undecided on which colour to get them finished. Has anyone had their wheels finished in a different colour from the standard finish and if so are there any pics? Or does anyone know of a web site with pics of cars with different coloured alloys on?
Here's the car in question.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks in advance
Gary
thats exactly what i have been toying with doing today, polished rim and colour coded center seems to be around £65 per rim

slightly easier choice on colour as my car is black
hmm
Personally if I was going to add colour, (Which I wouldn't personally), I'd colour code the rims and keep the centres ally,
Personal taste of course, but I haven't seen any colour coded ones I've liked, except on race prepped cars,
Mine are the same style as the pic, and I have contrasting ally finish, very slightly darker with metallic fleck on the rims, and 'normal' spokes. which the refurb guy told me was as per the original design ?????
cheers
Chris W did mine recently & we powder coated the rims & spokes all in silver for durability. I saw a pic a couple of days back with slightly more gunmetal spokes (but not too grey) & polished spokes, and I have to say they did look a bit tasty. Being on a silver car I decided to stay silver but next time who knows.
Colour is very much down to your taste but keep it subtle. On a technical point do not let an inexperienced powder coating firm put any coat on the rear face of the wheel or on the hub where it sits on the three splines of the car hub. These cars (along with ferrari) are very sensitive to hub balance and if you put that out no amount of rebalancing will help and the car will not drive right.
I had my split rims (Classic not Sport variety) refurbished a few months ago. I toyed with colour options and nearly went with the Anthracite but changed my mind and stuck with super bright silver for the simple reason that colour coding the centre with a shiny rim had the effect of making the wheels look smaller and I wasn't happy with that.
For split rims I'd recommend Lepsons. Regardless, if the rims are going to need splitting (which they will to do a quality job) make sure whoever you give them to can source replacement BBS bolts beforehand as they're very hard to get hold of and it's likely one or two will need replacing. These wheels are also hugely sensitive to paint on the mounting face and bolt holes as mentioned above. Had experience of this (from another refurbisher not Lepsons) and don't want to go there again!

I need to have mine refurnished, anybody tried these guys?

Can autowerks shot blast them as there is old filler and some corrosion, or does the chemical strip remove this?
+1 on standard colour, also when you come to sell you may lose money as deviating from the norm isn't always liked
Hello all
I'm currently doing a set of these GT3 Sport Design split rims for a 911uk customer on a Lapis Blue 996.
The customer and I decided to paint the centres in a slightly darker subtle silver grey than the standard silver, with thanks to Daniel who supplied some very useful info. The Anthracite is very dark in my opinion. The rims were in good condition and therefore we decided to keep the diamond cut rim which will be re-laquered with an acrylic lacquer. It is essential to have the correct lacquer otherwise corrosion and milkyness will return. These will be returned to the customers car early next week and I will post up pics for you to see.
These rims come out extremely well, and there is no substitute for having these professionally stripped and rebuilt, leaving a finish that is actually more durable than when they left the factory.
Out of all the wheels I see these have got to be the most consistently poor condition with the inner rims often resembling something that has been left in seawater and barnacles allowed to grow! The problem is that left in this state, not only is the corrosion destroying the wheel, the chances of balancing weights staying on is very much reduced which is turn affects the feeling of the car.
