Hi I recently finished installing a 6 disk CD changer, now I want to add blue tooth phone compatibility. I do not care about
ipod
compatibility so what blue tooth system would you recommend.
I have a 2008 CS Navigation &
Bose
Car?
I have the Dension BT1500 and the microphone sucks so, obviously, dont get that! I have read good things about the Tooki but that is pricey.
Zaidis,
Thank you for your input, I agree the Dension is not for me. Does anyone else have experience with other options for Bluet Tooth phone interface ?????
OK, I think I will rephrase my question, does anyone have any recent experience with the Tooki Blue Tooth unit... good or bad?
TOOKI is a good option for you if you don't care about
Ipod
connectivity. Some functions may not be available, however, depending on what brand of cell phone you have. I use a Palm Treo 750 and it works well but I cannot download the phonebook.
Iphones
(I heard) work very well with it.
Thank you for taking the time to respond, it is very much appreciated. I think I will order the Tooki Unit.
Another vote of confidence for the Tooki. I had a few problems with it with an old SE T610 but it works great with my new i-phone. They have a good support forum as well.
Good to know, I bought a Tooki off Ebay this morning (NIB) for $575 including shipping. I figure for that price I can't go wrong. Did you self install, or did you have a shop install it?
I had an auto electrician recommended by my Porsche dealer install it before I took delivery of the car. It cost around £85 for the install.
I did mine myself. I followed the instructions in one of the articles found in this board about taking the
PCM
radio out. After that, it was fairly simple.
You might want to read it and see if you're comfortable doing it. There was no dealer programming necessary.
I printed the install article courtesy of (BlueBlast) and I think between that and all the other information I have acquired I will be fine. I recently did install the 6 disk changer. The CD changer is not difficult at all to install, the only issue I had was the lack of clarity with the Porsche instructions, at
points
I felt as though they would have been more useful had they printed them in German. BluebBast & earlier
PCM
articles by K-Man S have reduced it to a rather straightforward install.
Thank you all for your responses, I appreciate anyone taking the time to offer their experiences, thank you.
Please let me know your experience with the Tooki.... I want to replace my Dension BT1500.
I installed the Tooki this afternoon, it took about 2 hours (I am slow) and thanks to Blueblast's Tooki article as well as the
PCM
article by K-Man S it went without a
hitch
. I did read both of those articles over several times before I touched the Tooki Package. I even stopped at Ace Hardware and purchased the red wire splices Blueblast noted in his article. I love this forum, so many truly nice people so willing to share their experiences, just GREAT. If I can help you in any way, I would be glad to. Regarding the performance, the Tooki has excellent sound quality and I am extremely happy with the Tooki System overall. I know if I wanted
Ipod
interface I may have gone the Dension way, but as I said earlier I do not care about
Ipod
compatibility. Those that need the
Ipod
connection obviously should and will go the way of the Dension which I understand to be a very good option.
