Can someone please let me know what effect you would get from moving the castor arm connection to the off-center hole on a set of
GT3
control arms, particularly on a lowered car? It seems to me it would increase effective castor angle, but I am having trouble finding a definitive answer on that.
I've been fighting issues with my car for the past several months after shipping damage on a transatlantic trip. All 4 shock absorbers were damaged, as was the steering rack. I finally got the car back last night, but it is still displaying a lack of self-centering behavior in the steering, with the steering feeling overly stiff and slightly "sticky". You have to force it to come back to center after turning. I suspect the front Shock mounts might have been bent, causing some of the issue at least, but I wondered whether the LCAs should be moved to the rear holes to help with self centering behavior on a lowered car, as I am going to have to realign the front end anyway if I replace the mounts.
Thee car is now running KW V3s, with
GT3
front LCAs being the only other suspension modification from stock. Ride height is significantly lower than stock after the car was corner balanced.
Get a solid thrust puck with castor and wheel base adjustments. The red Tarett puck is solid, but does exhibit some NVH, just a warning. Great turnin though. These also prevent forward and rear movement of the LCA's. Sorry about the rotated picture. The rear one caused my Tarett GT swaybar to slice my old OEM rear LCA's on threshold braking. After the installation of the Tarett Cup LCA's, no movement front or rear thanks to the solid Red thrust puck.
I'm not buying anything else for the car when the currently fitted equipment is already adjustable and superior in NVH. This is a street driven car only, even if it does see high speeds as this is Germany after all. Do you have any insight into the actual question?
Is your
GT3
LCA's thrust puck, castor adjustable? If not, you will need a solid thrust puck for that. Check out the Tarett/Elephant web site for details on their solid Red/Gray thrust puck. Maybe you can get back to around 8 with your castor with the Tarett/Elephant adjuster. Not sure about the other types of available adjustable thrust forks.
Yes, the
GT3
control arms are Castor adjustable to a small degree. There are two holes on the thrust puck as you called it. One is in the center, the other is slightly offset to the inside and rearward from the center. See attached image for clarity. I was asking what the effect would be of moving to the off center holes.
