Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, I'm very new to the 911 scene (in fact 6days). It's a 996tt with the X50 pack plus a remap and sports exhaust. I have been told its running 550bhp. I'm not sure if it's the remap or something wrong with the car but the turbos spool after 3500rpm....below this there is absolutely nothing? Also when I got a PPI carried out I was told the car boosts to 1.3bar...I have recently noticed that the boost on full wake varies from 0.8 to 1.1.....is there a reason for the fluctuation? By the way How much bhp / turbo lag will I gain / lose if I put a standard 996tt exhaust on it...the current one is way too loud. Any advice would be great Yohan

POST 2Original post

I am not an expert but I believe the X50 pack with larger turbos (K26 I think Vs the standard Turbo's K24) results in a bit more lag. I think the K26s kicking in at 3500RPM sounds about right. as regards te exhaust, it sounds like you might have the DMS exhaust. There shouldn't be an issue with swapping out for a standard exhaust and selling the DMS on eBay. The DMS exhaust I believe adds about 25BHP. Hope this helps

Is yours this 550 BHP beast ? http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evocarreviews/48190/porsche_911.html

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Spy, I think you might be right about the X50 pack having loads of turbo lag....guess i will have to get use to the delay. I'll get mine rolling road'd soon so will be able to let you kow if its 550 or less Cheers

POST 5Original post

Who did your remap ? You certainly shouldnt be having loads of lag with a properly remapped X50 (K24 turbos v K16 for the 420hp car), indeed your lag should be absolutely minimal. If you're saying you're getting next to no power below 3500rpm then that again indicates that something is not quite right with your car.

POST 6Original post

That's true actually, I forgot about the remap. The standard X50 has more lag but the remap is supposed to address the issue and give a smoother power delivery. I would take ZeroH advice (he is much more knowledgeable than me) and get the car checked out by a specialist - probably DMS if you can get to them

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys, I think I will get someone to have a good look at the ecu and current map.... Will keep you posted on the outcome. cheers P.s How much should I expect to pay for a remap?

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sounds good but I based in the West Mids Off to see ThePorscheShop in B'ham this sat and see what they say....its an open day so I can have a look under my car on the rams etc... How much was your DMS remap? cheers

POST 11Original post

Simon from E-Maps is based in the Midlands and I cant speak highly enough of him. He has mapped 4 of my cars including my current X50 turbo and I don't have the lag you speak of. www.e-maps.co.uk Tell him Graham told you to ring. HTH :bye:
