I'll be honest; my advice would be to walk away from that one, it is very very cheap (like mmalbon says probably the cheapest 996 I've ever seen), and probably for a reason.

Hi chaps, Iam a potential new 966 owner and have driven a 98 with 95k FSH yesterday and something is bothering me. Firstly Iam paying £200 for the local franchise to check the car in a couple of weeks time before I 100% commit.but.......... anyone know why she wobbles front end between the cogs ?? anything to do with low fuel in tank therefore weight distribution?? 18" alloys ?? PS it does seem cheap for a 98 car for £11800....what do you think ??? Thanks Mark

probably knackered shocks or similar, sounds a bit bizarre to me. It may have been in a crash. As for the price, I recon that's by far the cheapest 996 ever isn't it ? I'm not sure buying the cheapest car around is always the best plan.

Ask someone to drive behind you and see if the car is a bit "crab" like on the road. Is the wheelbase the same on both sides? Is the "toe" the same on each of the rear wheels? Possible accident damage/severe suspension misalignment on one side? Possible broken/defective rear spring/damper? Has the car been messed with eg lowered or suspension changed from original specification? Is the car fitted with a limited slip differential? Are the rear tyre pressures OK?

I haven't heard of anything like this before, it sounds very strange and probably isn't something any of us could diagnose on an internet forum at a distance. Is it a C2 or a C4? If it's a C4 and it's only happening in-between gears does that suggest some sort of problem with the front driveshaft (sorry I'm not great mechanically)? I'll be honest; my advice would be to walk away from that one, it is very very cheap (like mmalbon says probably the cheapest 996 I've ever seen), and probably for a reason. There is no need to buy the cheapest / first car you see, there are enough out there if you look hard / long / far enough to be able to pick up a good 'un before too long...
