Have just replaced mine and have kept to the original Continentals as were fitted by the factory, have you tried Etyres for a price.
Leading evidence: 'Install by the factory, have you tried etyres' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'better all rounder' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Install by the factory, have you tried etyres' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I also think as someone pointed out above, that there is a noticeable difference between tyres that are two years old and have just been replaced by a new set (although that's mainly only in the wet).

I had all four replaced on my C4S 2 months ago and it cost me around £750.

I had Michelin - changed to Pirelli P zero - in my opinion Mich's much much better :dont know:

Suspected cause
I've got contis and and whilst they are good in the wet I think Michelins are probably a better all rounder.

Unsuccessful attempt
Bearing in mind that my Michelin's were a maximum of 2 months old when replaced (and had done about 2000 miles), I'd have to say that I can feel exactly no difference between the tyres.

Suggestion
A problem is we change our tyres at the end of their lives when the rubber is hard and worn and compare with nice new grippy stuff, so not really fair.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am currently running Continentals on my C4S; they are ready for replacement and I'm wondering what to do next.
Having searched the various tyre threads on here, which are very helpful, I am still left wondering what is a good price??
So, I have been quoted £146 per tyre at the front and £264 per tyre for the rear (Continentals).
I see on here that a lot of people say very positive things about Michelins - is there a C4S owner who has put these on the car; what did you think - what did you pay?
Same question to any other C4S owners who are using other tyres.
Naturally, price is something that I have to keep an eye on - but if the overwhelming consensus is that one particular brand is brill but expensive, then I would consider spending more than the £820 that the Conti's will cost.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
For a road tyre I don't think you can beat the Michelin PS2's. The last set I bought
Rears 305/30/19 £304 each
Fronts 235/35/19 £230 each
Both (including vat and fitting)
18's should be a lot cheaper.
cunno.
Have just replaced mine and have kept to the original Continentals as were fitted by the factory, have you tried Etyres for a price. Paid 233 each for my rears but I did get a special deal. Mike
I went Michelin PS2's from Contis and prefer them. Can't remember what I paid but I do remember that it is worth considering going slightly wider at the front for front end grip and a meaner look (i didn't as found out too late).
I used eventtyres at the time as they were most competitive and come out to you on Saturdays. I have recently had blackboots highly recommended by trusted sources so would probably use them in future.
any comments on the Bridgestone Potenzas that were standard fit on my 06 carrera (on the 18's)?
probably need a change over the summer
also, more generally, do you think that N4 would be better than the N0 - given its 4 generations of development newer
or is it all gammon and essentially a £200 michelin = a £200 pirelli = a £200 conti = a £200 bridgestone etc.?
A problem is we change our tyres at the end of their lives when the rubber is hard and worn and compare with nice new grippy stuff, so not really fair. Michelin are generally 20% more expensive, a set of rears on Blackcircles is £584 with Bridgestones/Conti coming in at about £490, not so much difference on the fronts. You might go through 3 sets of rears to fronts so £300 over the life of a set, I went from Pirelli to Btidgestone and would buy them again.
Could do with a Poll to give percentages and see what the splits are?
Michelins are (one of) the most expensive for a good reason!
I had all four replaced on my C4S 2 months ago and it cost me around £750.
The are an excellent all rounder for dry and wet conditions and their durability is pretty good too.
In the last four months I have twice caught the lip of my rear Michelin's (against the curb) and after the last incident, decided to replace them with cheaper Pirelli's.
This was mainly because they only had these in stock and I needed the car that day and didn't want to stay on the space saver!)....but had the upside that they cost about £210 each (so about 20%+ cheaper than the PS2s).
Bearing in mind that my Michelin's were a maximum of 2 months old when replaced (and had done about 2000 miles), I'd have to say that I can feel exactly no difference between the tyres.
The performance in the wet and dry is comparable, the braking distance appears to be the same and noise level is identical.
So I have concluded that although there might be a difference between the tyres, it is very, very, very slight (undetectable to me) and in no way justifies the price premium.
I also think as someone pointed out above, that there is a noticeable difference between tyres that are two years old and have just been replaced by a new set (although that's mainly only in the wet).
So in summary, I actually think the whole Michelin PS2 thing is a bit of an Internet urban myth.
That said, I do believe that some of the N-rated tyres are not great, but the Conti, Pirelli and PS2 all seem very comparable.
To look at, I prefer the Pirelli and they're cheaper, with no noticeable difference - so my advice is save your money and put it towards your warranty (which unfortunately doesn't include tyres)!

Mich's are a softer compound and provide better handling IMO. I've tried P Zero too - couldn't get on with 'em..
Going over to Cup's now though - think the weather is sufficiently warm..!!
I've got PS2's on mine at the moment. They don't make the N1's any more so a quick hunt around, i'm going to give the Continental's a try.
£190 + VAT each for the rears fitted
Bearing that these are going to be fitted in SPA after a track day at the end of the month, i thought pretty good.
Like the other comments. I would be very difficult to compare the old PS2's to the new Conti's
OK - now I'm really confused..
Just looking on etyres and have spotted some Michelin Pilot Sport N3's.
The fronts are to the exact spec of the current Conti's and are Z rated.
But the rears, although, N3's, specifically for the Porsche are Y rated??? Is this right or should I continue my search??
