Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have an annoying rattle that is coming from the rear window latch mechanism, the bit that spins round and pulls the window closed I think, has anyone else experienced this and found a cure, thanks

POST 2Original post

The locking mechanism is recessed under the trim in the middle, doubt it's that. The round disc with a hole in it on the passenger side drives the rear wiper. Never move the wiper from the rest position when the hatch is open! The rear motor mechanism behind the carpet section can sometimes come loose and rattle. Pretty easy to sort it out. Same can be said of the motor mechanism in the roof. Had a bolt fall out and rattle around for a while that drove me mad! Does your boot fail to pop and relock itself immediately sometimes even though the mechanism has obviously worked? Check the rubber feet (bottom 2 corners of the glass hatch) are sitting properly from inside the car and adjust them so they have positive and even contact both sides. I also lightly grease the rub trim the hatch mates with using Silicone grease. Seems to stop any dry creak. Good luck!

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Funny, I had a bolt fall into the mechanism in the roof as well, good point about the rear mechanism .. how do you get access to that, is it obvious when you poke around?, the two rubber bushes you mention, are they adjustable - they didn't seem to be?, thanks

POST 4Original post

The rubber bushes are threaded, may take some effort to turn them though. From the inside of the the car you can get to them and jiggle them about to see if they are preloaded with the hatch shut. If the hatch creaks whilst driving the preload is probably wrong, but any adjustment shouldn't be more than half a turn or so. To get to the wiper mechanism you need to remove the carpet sections. Pretty straight forward
