My 2011 Cayman S that I bought a few weeks ago was originally a US car, so it had the speedometer in MPH. Being in Canada, I wanted to have it show KPH. (The digital readout is already set for that, but I wanted the analog gauge to match). I bought a new gauge faceplate from Heiler Tachodesign

in Germany. There's a huge amount of options for colours. I just wanted a plain white one. Installation was pretty easy. I used a guide I found here:
https://www.planet-9.com/reviews/cayman-cosmetic-mods/p356-fvd-speed-yellow-gauge-faceplate.html
. The final result looks OEM. Now it goes 300, not just 190!
My car came from the US, but was purchased by a dealer in Canada who then sold it back to the US. In this process, my speedometer's face was replaced with one that goes to 200mph, so the indicated speed is always off.
I always just reference the digital speedometer, kind of wish the actual speedometer was an oil pressure gauge instead... Oh well, I'll add that later.
Yours look great! White is my favorite gauge color. Only on red and yellow cars do I like red and yellow gauges.
The needles don't have alignment pins, do they? So they could easily be off if you don't get them on perfectly?
On past cars I've done, I've always had to double check the speedometer with a GPS, top off the fuel tank, and get the car up to temp to check those read outs, then measure RPM via OBDII to make sure that's correct as well.
You're right, no alignment pins. I took some close up photos of where the needles rest before making the swap, and then I was as careful as I could be to not disturb the posts when I was working on it, and then put the needles back on using the photos as reference. The only way to know if I got it close is to take it out for a spin. I'll have to wait a couple of days until the snow goes away. If they are off, I can either take it all apart again, or I can take it to a dealer that can set the needles wherever they need to be using some electronic gizmo.
On other cars, I've actually reinstalled the gauges without the clear face plate so I could remove and replace the needles as needed. But this may not be an option with the 987 configuration. Good luck!
