Hi all.
Only me in the Friday modding frame of mind!
i want to paint my centre console to match the exterior (Guards Red). I have had a look on the web and the prices seem to be all over the shop. Has anyone bought one pre-done? If so where from, how much and is it any good? Also is it easy to fit? I was thinking of perhaps a vinyl wrap (more scratch resistant) anyone done that?
Alternatively can anyone recommend a sprayer in Hampshire, is it possible to drive without the console in place in an emergency?
I will certainly get it done as I think it will finish the interior off nicely.
One last thing, do Haynes do a manual? Just for messing about with stuff you understand!
Thanks guys (and girls...!!!)
There is nothing that comes close to perfect than the original finish
Anything else is "tacky"
Refinishing is possible but I don't know where this can be done.
Just my taste
LOL, I sort of do - it sort of 'works' with speed yellow (definitely better than the guards red) but I still wouldn't do it to mine I don't think...!
it can be done as a diy type project
i hvae instructions for the console removal which i can photocopy and post to you, or you may find it on the web google short shift installation as you have to take the console out to install a short shift,
then you have 2 options
any bodyshop can repaint it for you, the hardest part is removong the rubbery finish thats on the existing console, i find they look better in arctic silver than some exterior matches ?
i have had consoles done by my bodyshop although they say it is messy to remove the old paint
or you could have it wrapped in say a carbon fibre finish,
theres a firm local to me Garnish who will carbon wrap you could allways courier it to them and backagain

Hi Mark
Thanks for the constructive reply!
I have found one in GT silver (the same as the sat nav surround and door pulls) so it probably look better than silver AND red!!
Its from a broken Boxster S for £190 delivered. Apparently its factory done, sounds a fair price or am I mad? Was it really a £600 option?
Is it a fairly straight forward job? Do I need special tools?
Thanks
