Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The Ruf set up is extremely well engineered and tested, not just bolted on.

Bruce - there are also several shops/tuners who are replacing the 3.4 with 3.8 normally aspirated motors - if you add the X51 package you can easily tune the motor into the 400 hp range - no plumbing, no lag...
Leading evidence: 'Test not just bolted' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). As an aside while on the subject of Ruf, I read recently that RC over at Rennteam tested the Rt12 and was mighty impressed with the performance and quality.

if you have them use a new crate motor from PAG, you even get a warranty, and your local dealer can work on it...
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

My question concerning any of these multiple options is this: if you do any of them, wont you have to put a LSD in to make full use of it, then do some minor work with the brakes.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello,
I am contemplating adding some more power to the 07' Seal Gray Cayman S. I already have the full Milltek headers/exhaust setup. I am looking on google for some form of charging more power via a blower or a turbo. Are there any avaliable out there? I'd rather not custom fab the setup. Trying to look for something with some tech backing etc. Any help?
Sorry for not introducing myself formally, but I figured this was the best way.
Thanks.
There are both S/C and Turbo kits coming from sponsors here and I am pretty sure each has been discussed in the forum previously. Welcome to the site, nice hat!
I have put about 1500 miles on my RUF 3400 K and happy to report perfect driveability and 400 hp seems about enough. RUF Autocentre in Dallas can answer any questions.
RuF is the only one you can buy (so far). The rest are "under development" and I never count on anything being finalized until its been on a few other people's cars.
Personally I wish VF would create a supercharger kit like the RuF but cheaper
I think a twin turbo setup will be ideal. You can control the boost pressure from inside the car and turbos allow for more MPG than superchargers. (Depending on the tuning maps)
A friend of mine runs his 600whp VW on the streets and has multiple ecu map settings to choose from when driving. 3 to be exact, he uses a large gt35r turbo and it spools late but if you go with a smaller turbo you can have power from way down the rev range.
The trouble with a turbo is that its a lot more work to plumb and you need room down by the exhaust ports.
Supercharger is nice if you can fit it into the engine bay, no worries about exhaust.
Yup, my car is not a lab rat for testing. I need something that is a finished product. But like you said about VF.....

If you search around (take a look at the "similar threads" listings at the bottom of this page) you'll find plenty of talk about these.

Bruce_Wayne we will have a Supercharged Cayman S finished within the next 10 days and you are more than wwelcome to test drive it.We will will soon also have our own demo car finished in the very near future equiped with the 3.8 supercharged version.
Neil You Are Brave
After reading all of the negative comments regarding your business transactions with a few Caymanclub members, I am shocked you are still pushing your product. GOOD LUCK
The Ruf set up is extremely well engineered and tested, not just bolted on. Just my 02 cents but I would rather trust the Ruf warranty and aftercare rather than drop in a 3.8 X51 and hope things work out long term. As an aside while on the subject of Ruf, I read recently that RC over at Rennteam tested the Rt12 and was mighty impressed with the performance and quality. I mention this because he was openly negative about Ruf for quite some time, but he has been that way about the Cayman as well. Seems that the proof of the pudding is in the eating! My take is that if you aren't happy with stock Porsche, and you expect Porsche OEM quality from the aftermarket, Ruf is the answer. Doing things right at this level isn't cheap and cutting corners is often more expensive in the long run.
3.8L upgrade is the most reliable. Techart has it fully developed:
POWER KIT TA 087S/C3.8 Art.-Nr.: 087.300.380.009
approx. 283kw / 385hp
(the figures may change due to tolerances of the standard engine)
Base 3.4l / 217kw / 295hp
consisting of:
- Sport air-cleaner-system
- TECHART-ECU (in exchange for standard)
- TÜV certificate
- Increased capacity 3.8l
- Pistons
- connecting rods
- crankshaft
- camshafts
- Injection valves
- TECHART-Sport induction pipes
- TECHART-Sport airbox
- Aluminium intake manifold
- TECHART-Extractor manifold
- TECHART-Sport exhaust system
- TECHART-Motronic (Modification of genuine part)
- TÜV-certificate
I have been a fan of Tech Art products for quite some time. Almost went with their exhaust headers setup over Milltek. But I am leaning a little bit more on the RUF side. And after seeing the thread on Orton, I am a bit skeptical to say the least. But I figure that little issue will be resolved eventually.
I don't plan on doing an engine swap either, thats not something I am interested in doing. I need to do some more research etc. You all have helped me greatly.
But it's not over yet.
My question concerning any of these multiple options is this: if you do any of them, wont you have to put a LSD in to make full use of it, then do some minor work with the brakes. Then long term you may have clutch and suspention work to do?
