I just installed Milltek cat backs and I am very happy.

first was the one where they made a description about the exhaust and a boxster installed with the exhaust.

Suggestion
As far as pipes changing colors from polished to sort of a bronze color all exhausts that get hot enough are going to do that, my Milltek did it, my AWE did it at least as far as the pipes are concerned, in both cases the mufflers cans stayed shiny.

Best I can tell, their Gen #2 system uses the same headers/cats, but changes the exhaust system.

I never believe any damm dyno runs as it seems they can be altered from day to day as weather and differant area of the country elavations change results but there was no doubt about he but dyno after instalation that it made power

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Still not sure between Milltek, Fabspeed or B&B...
Just randomly stopped by the Fabspeed site, when did they update/ change their catback. Looks totally different now and has two tips that keep the exhaust separate now.
Has anyone purchased these or compared it to the old version?
pretty interesting videos on fabspeeds site. does an explanation of their exhaust/headers and not very complimentary comparison to the miltek...
http://www.fabspeed.com/cayman.html
Caveman S, yes the new one seems to fit much better, higher up so you can't see it from behind. Go to their site, they have a video too.
I think the direct comparison to the Milltek may be from all the positive Milltek feedback on this site and others, guess they know who their competition is.
Well it seems Fabspeed has released their Version 2 of their Cayman exhaust which is a good thing since it appears they have fixed some of the problems with the series 1 units. I'm not going to comment on dyno numbers because I have not put a Version 2 Fabspeed exhaust on the dyno, at least not yet, so I don't know how it compares to Milltek but I would be suprised if it was consistently 3hp more as that would place it above AWE as well and AWE is closer in design to Fabspeed than to Milltek.
With regard to the Milltek system in all fairness there is now a Version 1B and version 2 coming and version 1B is more adjustable than the original 1A. As far as pipes changing colors from polished to sort of a bronze color all exhausts that get hot enough are going to do that, my Milltek did it, my AWE did it at least as far as the pipes are concerned, in both cases the mufflers cans stayed shiny.
It is good to see improvements being made and in part based on the feedback from the members of this site! Kudos to vendors for paying attention and striving to improve their products!
Fabspeed
I have been in the market for just the right exhaust combo/manufacturer too. I want the power, but not too much noise. Growl is good, but don't want obnoxious from such a refined machine. I went to the Fabspeed website and was very impressed. I would love to hear from some folks who have their newest product installed. Keep posting the great threads!!
:thanks:
i really interested in fabspeed exhaust as well. i would like to know what the hp gain for the cat back alone? the 20hp number listed seems to be for headers and cats.
I have the Fabspeed version and i am very happy with the results i have from them. I never believe any damm dyno runs as it seems they can be altered from day to day as weather and differant area of the country elavations change results but there was no doubt about he but dyno after instalation that it made power
a quick question here.
i have the older fabspeed exhaust. is there any way that i can trade or maybe add a little more money in order to get the new version.
K MAN: you said that fabspeed had problem with their version 1 exhaust. what are the problems?
tokz,
You'll have to call Fabspeed to answer your first question, as far as problems, they first series exhaust was often difficult to it and hung down low and could have resonance, it looks like the 2nd series has cleared up the fitting issues, but I haven't heard the exhaust or seen dyno results on it yet.
i have to agree about it hanging very low with the 1st generation.
actually when i started looking for the exhaust, there were two videos that they gave at the website. first was the one where they made a description about the exhaust and a boxster installed with the exhaust. and the second was when they were doing a dyno with a cayman.
after i heard their 2nd generation exhaust, i starting to believe that the first batch was actually a boxster exhaust and they installed it in the cayman. this is because the sound inside and outside the cabin with the 2nd generation exhaust was totally different from the 1st generation.
i also have a strong feeling that the 2nd generation IS the exhaust for the Cayman, it is obvious from the fittings ( it does not hang low anymore)
from there, is it possible for me to made a complain to fabspeed that they were actually selling a boxster exhaust and they force it to fit Cayman ??
i am really pissed off about this matter.
(i'm sorry if i hijacked this thread, but actually im very thankful to the original poster coz w/o you i wont have known about the 2nd generation exhaust)
fit on mine was very good now at first there was a little bit of closeness to the passanger side shock and spring assembly but a quick adjustment and great my is ageneration 1.75 not the newest one available but not gen 1 which was so low it stuck out of the bottom of the rear bumper
I just installed Milltek cat backs and I am very happy. The sound differance is subtle compared to stock and there does seem to be a bit of performance boost. If you are seeking a materal sound increase Milltek is probably not going to make yoy happy but the system is more low throated than stock.
I have the Gen #1 (I think) Fabspeed headers with their "sports racing catalytic converters", coupled with a modified version of the stock exhaust system. The headers/cats have been very problematic with CEL/limp mode issues. I had the headers removed last week and both cats were melted into balls of material that were rattling around in the cat chamber causing inconsistent performance, sound and reliability. I've now gone back to the stock headers - a little down on power - but performs perfectly.
This is the second set of Fabspeed headers/cats locally (Toronto area) that have had this same problem that I am aware of, so I'm not sure I want to go back and get another set of Fabspeed headers if they are of the same design. Best I can tell, their Gen #2 system uses the same headers/cats, but changes the exhaust system.
Does anyone else have a similar experience, and/or has anyone installed the Gen #2 Fabspeed headers/cats and tracked them heavily with good results ?
