POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've decided to pull the trigger on a BGTS in the coming week - I've been on the configurator playing with colour schemes but it can be difficult to work out whether a colour combo works on the computer screen. Main criteria are: 1) it cannot be silver or white as I have those colours already 2) cannot be dark blue as I have just got out of a dark blue car Other than that, it's pretty open. My current left field (for me) choices are: http://www.porsche-code.com/PF3Q6WL8 (some pics of the mahogany brown in real life look stunning, just trying to work out whether it has enough red in it to work with the black interior and red stitching) and http://www.porsche-code.com/PFUMPQA9 Need to use the 3D view on the configurator, 2D pics are a waste of time! Anyone else got any interesting combos that look good? Pref with good pics in real life? Interested to see what I might have missed since we all have intrinsic ways of thinking. Given that I'm going to be ordering my first ever car, I figure I'll go down an interesting route that appeals to me rather than getting the Porsche equivalent of Ferrari resale Red with Cream given that I'll take a bit of a bath on it either way

POST 2Original post

Frosted White with expresso Red with black White with blue Yellow with tan Racing green with expresso Or for a little extra why not metallic black with dark purple?

POST 3Original post

That is a very brave choice sir, I commend you for doing what you want

Gold and black with red highlights: http://www.porsche-code.com/PFPFTT79 First time I've played with gold and liked it. Pricey colour combo though....

POST 9Original post

I personally ordered Yellow with full leather Amber/Orange interior - coming in May, so no real photos. But there are some on Planet 9. Both hands for Mahogany or Brown still with full leather Amber/Orange interior. Considered these variants and really liked them but: - in our hot climate these colours were too much for summer and - could not justify premium for these colors to myself as was tight on budjet. Strongly recommend to check full leather Amber/Orange interior, really a loooker and fit for such a nice car. And if money no object - go ahead with mahogany. The car will be one of a kind and very special, which it really is. BTW, Lime Gold was my FIRST choice but again, price is too high for me. There is 1 Boxster on Planet 9 in Lime Gold, fantastic... Still Mahogany will be much more special... Edited by Ed from Cyprus on Tuesday 6th January 10:43

POST 10Original post

Mario - don't know if it helps but I recently bought a BMW in Smoked Topaz which is similar (though a bit lighter) to Mahogany. I went for a brown interior and the combination works very well. The dashboardremains black and the doors are black with brown leather panels. The black you have suggested certainly wouldn't clash - though not sure about the red stitching.. It is wise to check out what stitching is in red as on a previous Boxster, I specified stitching to match bodywork (Zanzibar Red!) but handbrake and gera lever remained in standard colour. Porsche Reading offered a "re-stitch" but the cost was horrendous. Not sure about your second choice of Gold - I thin k it can look a bit bland in the flesh. Good luck anyway - I always enjoy speccing n ew cars!!

POST 11Original post

Wouldn't presume to advise anyone on such a personal choice. All I would say is that a left field / possibly marmite choice might impact on resale values. Probably no issue if you intend keeping the car a long time - better to get exactly what you like and ignore what anyone else thinks. Regarding the rest of your spec I'd think about a sports wheel if you intend overriding the PDK much.

POST 12Original post

Not the best of pics but the following might help give you an idea of the Anthracite with pebble and agate interior. Personally I think it works really well. Not sure there is enough red in the exterior colour for the red stitching to work but would need to see it before committing.

I'd spec ceramics too as those steel disks look tiny behind those 20 inch wheels. I'd also try and spec centre lock wheels GT3 style. May be wait for GT4 as its just round the corner?!?

Mario149 said: I think if I was going down that route it would be to make a GTS interior package with something other than red or blue stitching. Do you have any specific suggestions? I'm not sure any of my ideas for a car would be that helpful. I suppose I have a vision of Exclusive dragging that out of the prospective owner. I'd expect to take along a few of my favourite things, maybe point at some colours I like and then see what they come up with.

POST 25Original post

Should have added earlier that if I was in a position to be speccing a new GTS then it would be the pebble and agate interior that you are looking at with sapphire blue exterior. If you do spec that then I will probably buy it off you in a few years time. The racing yellow is a good call but for me would need to be a bit brighter, all personal opinion but if you are going to do a yellow then it should be the boldest yellow going.

POST 26Original post

I regularly see a Boxster in the 'Gold' colour (whatever it's called) and it really is nice. Not as bold as you might think - just looks good and makes the car really stand out. In a good way though.

Orangecurry said: Type 'boxster maritime blue' into google images Edited by Orangecurry on Tuesday 6th January 16:04 Oof! Bright! Need my sunglasses for looking at that! Mexico blue is quite nice but I think a little too bright for the car where the theme is more road trip than track weapon spec

POST 30Original post

.. so that'll be silver (which doesn't show the dirt or stonechips) and a rich/deep red interior with matching hood. Classic, timeless. Fashion fades; only style remains.

POST 31Original post

Riviera Blue would be my choice for one of these

ellroy said: I may be slightly biased, but Yellow with black interior and hood. Absolutely! I'm also biased but there are too many monochrome cars about these days, IMHO, a nice speed yellow with some black bits looks superb. The dealer was bemoaning the fact that his showroom looked so dull and boring when we drove our yellow Cayman away (they'll tell you anything to make you happy!). I just don't get grey cars but I accept I'm in the minority. Just look at the colour choices for a standard BMW 3 series, the only real colour option is red, all the others are grey, black, white and dull shades of black. Are most people trying to be invisible on the roads?

POST 38Original post

Hi Mario, if I was after a Cayman I would love individual paint in viper green with black wheels and GTS interior with the White stitches. The combination of green, alcantara and carbon inserts is pornographic. Slightly less ideal in a boxster IMHO but worth considering if you fancy a racing look. POST 43Original post

Let's start with the interior first. FWIW I would keep the GTS unique full leather / Alcantara interior, with or without the £2k GTS interior pack. Go with full leather and you lose the uniqueness of the GTS and turn the interior into the same as you can have in any Boxster. A bit pointless to be honest. Exterior colours are entirely a matter of personal taste. If you can justify the cost and want to keep the car even more GTS specific then choose the carmine red which can only be had on the GTS range. I love blue cars, my last Porsches were an 06 Boxster S in cobalt blue with sea blue full leather. Then had a Cayman S PDK in Aqua blue with sea blue leather again. This was replaced by a pre owned Carrera 997/2 C2S again in Aqua but with black leather so this time I was determined to choose something different. When we went to our dealers for a test drive they had all our short listed colours, silver, sapphire blue and white. SWMBO is superstitious about silver so that was out. Sapphire blue looks a bit watered down compared to Aqua. Solid white is a slight shade of off white, but they also had the new carrara white metallic, a really pure bright white which made our mind up for us. All I can suggest is you do the same, visit as many dealers as you've got time to, and look at the various colours they have in stock. Don't rely on photographs!!!

POST 44Original post

When I specced my BGTS I definitely did not skimp on the unique-to-GTS codes, such as the GTS interior pack and the GTS black exterior pack. The main reason is those options are what make the car unique from other Boxsters and those options are not orderable on an S for example. Plus I went Carmine Red for the rarity. I basically looked at how Porsche had specced up their launch Carmine Red 'halo' press/photography car and copied that spec to the letter.

Hopefully going to finalise dates in the coming days. Only change to the spec above is that I've added carbon fibre bucket seats after sitting in them in a CGTS at Silverstone wile doing my freebie half day: I never considered them initially as I thought they'd be like the hardcore GT3 buckets but in reality they're completely every day useable and dead comfortable Omg I'm so excited but still have 3 months or so to wait! PS: there's a vanilla 981 Boxster that parks near our place and it looks ace in Dark Blue Metallic

I basically looked at how Porsche had specced up their launch Carmine Red 'halo' press/photography car and copied that spec to the letter. The standard GTS interior is also unique to that model. It only becomes a "normal" Boxster interior if you specify deletion of Alcantara. The only difference with the GTS interior pack is carbon trim and deviated stitching (which you can have in the other models)The only unique bits are the bicolour seat belts, red or grey tachometer, and the silver or red GTS logo on the headrests. You still get the GTS logo as standard but with black stitching. It's a great option if you like the carbon trim, we thought it made the interior coal cellar dark - but that's a personal thing as with any colour or trim choice, there's no right or wrong here. I do think it's vital to keep the GTS theme, with the Alcantara, with or without the interior pack. Problem with asking others for colour choices is If you are not careful everyone will give you their own ideas and you'll end up even more undecided. Go with what you like, forget about what others think as it's your car, not theirs!! Edited by dreamcar on Sunday 5th April 10:26
