Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hey Everyone, I take delivery of my Cayman S today at 12:00pm. Question for all you enthusiasts out there, to your knowledge what is the LOUDEST catback system out there for the CS? the car won't be a daily driver. THX!

POST 2Original post

If loud is the goal why even put a catback on at all? Open pipes would be the loudest. Here is what I know in terms of sound from catbacks. Loudest 9ff - Although there are fitment problems with this system, buy at your own risk. AWE/ Fabspeed /and others Milltek Quietest All of them will be louder than stock, each of them handles exhaust sound differently so it isn't always about "loudness" as it is about tone, ability to handle resonance, etc. Pure volume of sound would be 9ff, almost sounds as if there is no muffler, but there have been fitment problems with that system and the manufacturer is in hot water with at least one of our members right now, but if you don't care then 9ff would be the loudest.

POST 3Original post

My Milltek is very quiet. That and I did not want to turn a daily driving Porsche into something obnoxious on the road. But to each is their own.

POST 4Original post

I have the Remus cat back and it is preety loud, especially after it gets warmed up. I don't mind it,but my girlfriend thinks it is too loud. It definitely has some resonance between 2200-2900 RPM. Nice and deep though.

POST 8Original post

I have had a couple different exhausts on different cars and have to tell you the AWE is the best I've had. As a company they really stand behind their product and actually care about a happy customer. I dont say this b/c they are a sponser but rather b/c in all my discussions w/ them they have been nothing but stand up.

POST 9Original post

what about Kreisseig? it's the loudest i've ever heard. i'm not about the spelling but it's something like that.

POST 10Original post

Yeah I love their systems, just way more than I want to spend!!!!

POST 12Original post

for that price you can get a custom stainless steel exhaust with the factory cut out valves.

POST 13Original post

I originally had the AWE exhaust and then switched over to Tubi. I wasn't a huge fan of the AWE sound and I had some initial quality concerns. That said, AWE did a great job taking care of my problems and are very easy to work with. I really wanted the exhaust to work for me because the company has such good customer service. That said, I am very happy with my Tubi. It is louder than the AWE and in my opinion has a much fuller "bark" to it. As with all exhaust sounds YMMV. I can't really tell a difference in power between the two, but I think the AWE had a little smoother midrange.

POST 14Original post

really??? So you think the Tubi is louder than the AWE??

POST 15Original post

Around town with stock headers and cats the Tubi is louder, not significantly louder, but enough to tell the difference. However if you are in a tunnel the Tubi will scream compared to the AWE.

POST 17Original post

deuce, I am in the same camp as you are, my car is simply for fun and pleasure. I don't drive it very often, but when I do I want some sound. I will be most interested in which way you go and your satisfaction. Russ

POST 18Original post

Thanks teamsketch. I also have the Tubi but wonder how it sound compared to the AWE. You absolutely right - I loved the Tubi in a tunnel.

POST 19Original post

As a betting man I would give 2-1 odds that my BB system is the loudest and most reasonably priced out there. My car sounds like James Garner's car in the movie Grand Prix! BB has the smallest mufflers. When others hear my car they regret that they did not buy the BB. Mike

POST 20Original post

GHL Motorsports I had a GHL catback on my 02 Boxster S. It was loud but not too loud. It had some resonance between 3K-4K RPM, but I was rarely at that range and I could hear the engine at the track. It was 15 lbs lighter than the stock system. They have developed a system for the Cayman, but it's not on the web site yet. I'm going to get one soon. I rarely drive my Cayman S on the street and really want to hear it on the track. Here's a couple of bad photos of the GHL System.

POST 21Original post

How do these exhausts difer from the sport tuned exhaust from factory? Stock sounds great at WOT, and quiet when you want it. Do they add much in HP, or just sound?

POST 22Original post

If you only lived in Hawaii! I would love to hear it in person.

POST 23Original post

Russ you will have to settle for the sound of that awesome surf crashing upon the rocks. What a beautiful place to live. If u come to FL I'll give you a ride.
