I don't want to dredge up any details and I would say to those thinking of buying from Neil or using him to do something on your car that you go in with eyes wide open, get agreements/assurances you are comfortable with and choose for yourself.

Hi fellow CC members.....yes, I am the other supossed "supercharged" Cayman....Well to make a long story short I purchased the S/C kit as advertised here back in November made by Neil Orton, paid him upfront as requested since the kit was "ready", and not only Neil Orton never delivered to me the kit using several excuses, but he has to this day failed to fully refund my money.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hi fellow CC members.....yes, I am the other supossed "supercharged" Cayman....Well to make a long story short I purchased the S/C kit as advertised here back in November made by Neil Orton, paid him upfront as requested since the kit was "ready", and not only Neil Orton never delivered to me the kit using several excuses, but he has to this day failed to fully refund my money. Now its April, eventhough he has given me some money back I am having a hard time getting replies from him and collecting the rest of my money, which mounts still over $6000, plus interest, lost time and efforts placed into this. All along I have been resisting to post my sentiments in the board but you guys can imagine :argue: Next week when I am back home if NEIL ORTON does not pay me back the rest of MY money, have no choice but to take him to court. K-MAN S is following this tragedy very well, I have in fact given him copies of my emails to Neil Orton, and need less to say, he has been kind enough in trying to help me collect my money from Orton, fully backing up my position, and has even go as far as "suspending" his sponsorship until my situation is resolved. Thanks Ken. Anyway, if anyone has some leverage over Neil Orton, I would appreciate the help, if he pays me half this week and half next, case closed. Saludos Amigos

POST 2Original post

Bernie, It is an unfortunate set of circumstances and I can understand if Neil had to finance part of the building of the kits with the first few customers, but I concur there is no excuse for not refunding money, particularly in the amounts we are talking about, in a timely fashion. I also understand if people fall on hard times, get behind in paying bills, etc. but they need to communicate this to people not go silent. I'm hopeful Neil will come around and the whole thing will get resolved. Best of luck!

POST 3Original post

Hi People like Neil should not be allowed to do business. I had a few sleepless nights and had to fly from South Africa to Atlanta to finalize my deal with him after paying him a $13500 deposit. It took me three days with him to get all the parts together and shipped to South Africa. We are not the only people out there that has or had problems with him. I would never have done the conversion should he have told me the truth about the effort and real cost to get a 3.8s running perfectly. I will be recieving the ABS/PSM, DME and PASM unit from Scott Slauson this week. Cheers Herman (I also placed an order for the SC kit from him but after speaking to him about the compression ratio and boost I knew that he did not know what he is was talking about)

POST 4Original post

K-Man much respect to you for handling this publicly as I was pretty close to doing a 3.8 swap with him.A good friend of mine who has been doing 911 stuff for many years told me he never heard of him and that was what delayed me. Booting him off of here finalized my decision and thank goodness.

POST 5Original post

BTW we will have a new sponsor shortly that works directly with Scott in doing 3.8L swaps and is doing them correctly and making very positive gains and happy customers. We are just trying to hammer out some details.

POST 6Original post

Herman....I am sorry you had to go to that as well. Thats sucks. I have also thought about flying to Atlanta as well, but I do not want to spend more money on this. When I talk to Neil Orton on the phone in fact he is a nice person, and gives you the feeling that he knows what he is talking about. Plus I knew that he was a sponsor at the CC, somewhat of an active poster, and that Kman-S was endorsing the S/C project (if that is the correct word to say), all that inspired me the confidence to move forward. Time will tell anyway, but so far at least on the S/C kit he failed to deliver me, and whats worse, he keeps me hanging there chasing him for my money. And what now really PMO is that he does not reply to my e-mails anymore, needless to say I have been very patient and kind all along. Would be interesting to learn how KMAN-S got to meet Neil Orton, he claims to have done some deals with him in the past, wondering how those resulted. Would be good for Neil Orton to come forward to this site, explain the Cayman Club community for his behaviour and resolve at once both our problems. I think will be no good for him and his reputation to have angry customers on the loose. The Porsche world is small. Cheers.

POST 7Original post

I have ZERO tolerence for people who conduct business in this manner whatsoever. Actually it makes me pyschotic - just too many dealings with people like this. I can't remember the number of con man, scam artists, and charlatans that I have come into contact with over the past 10 years. And I know these types of people are everywhere but the US seems to be the hotbed for them? Some of the sh1t people have tried to pull on me in the name of "business" would get you and your family killed how I was raised. I would demand every single penny back from him by a specific date. If it is not returned pursue legal action and also implement a guerilla negative publicity campaign against his company to put them out of business. This can also at times be more effective than legal action if implemented correctly. Sorry for the rant. (Ok...deep breaths...deep breaths...) COCO...sorry to hear that you are going through this type of BS. I hope everything works out in your favor.

POST 8Original post

Thanks Silent...He has had plenty of time to pay me back. I even agreed to weekly instalments, but he stopped doing them weeks ago. I just got an email from him but its not worth posting it here. Still no money. Like I said, next week I am back home, and its time to turn this to the proper authorities. Its being nearly 5 months and my patience has ran out. I have no more time to waste on this.

POST 9Original post

Has this issue been resolved and money refunded?

POST 10Original post

someone mentioned that orton may use the first few customers to 'FINANCE' the project. i used to work for a large commercial bank. i dont agree that companies should use customers to finance their inventory or operating cost. that's what commercial loans/lines are for.; call the bank. if the bank wont trsut the business to provide funding, customers shouldn't either. some of you gave him deposit over 10k??? sorry, to me a deposit is good faith money. 10% is more than plenty, unless this SC kit is 100k, then surely 10k is a legit deposit. i have had plenty of dealing with this industry. there are very very very few, i do mean very very very few outfit that understand how to run a business, honest and can perform ON TIME. ON TIME is an issue that this industry really doesn't understand. be careful who you send your money to..

POST 11Original post

after this i would never use orton. really don't care what the reasoning was for him holding someones money. he will not go to far with the way he does business and am glad the problem was resolved but hes got a hell of a hole to climb out of. ken if this is wrong to say just delete it. I hope we all do not use him.

POST 12Original post

It is my understanding that Neil Orton did not have a dedicated financial person working at his shop for a period of time but that he has since rectified that problem and someone is handling all finances, payments, etc. I don't want to dredge up any details and I would say to those thinking of buying from Neil or using him to do something on your car that you go in with eyes wide open, get agreements/assurances you are comfortable with and choose for yourself. I don't necessarily think we should outright throw him under the bus, especially if he has made amens and is making improvements as at least seems to be the case at this point in time.

POST 13Original post

I am looking at Neil to install my PSS9's for me. His labor is very reasonable and will do the install for me on a saturday. He is only a few miles down the road from me and is very nice to talk to. I hope by reading this that everything has been taken care of. Tom

POST 14Original post

I spent over an hour talking to Neil and touring his shop. I wouldn't think twice about using him for anything.

POST 15Original post

Agreed. They can get away with it because for some folks, doing after market mods on their car is the closest they will come to walking on the wrong side of the law (as far as they are concerned). People hesitate to hold these guys to the same level of accountability as a "stealership" because they sort of feel like they are doing something shady. Almost illegal. God forbid you admit that you spent a boatload of money on something you really shouldn't have...only to lose it...and maybe screw up your car. Even reviews are tainted. People will rave about how happy they are. After all, the happier they are, the better the whole idea was to spend the money in the first place. Right? So...modders can get away with working in that shadowy area where money hidden from wives gets spent. LOL.

POST 16Original post

ORTON TESTIMONIAL: In December 06 I left my CS with Neil Orton to do the following: install headers which needed bongs welded in for sensors, install BB catback which requires more time than most, install lowering springs which is a major chore, install new pedals remap ECU realignment due to spring install I left it with him and got on a plane to Vegas. I needed the car in 5 days because I was flying back to pick up the car and drive back to Florida. It was time sensitive. When I returned to get the car Neil was polishing it and had it prestine and completely ready. All the work was done to complete satisfaction. I am extreemly pleased with the work and the performance increase due to the Orton remap went beyond my expectation. His shop is spotless and well organized. I am sad to read about the problems these members have had, but I felt another side needed to be heard. Mike

POST 17Original post

Chops drop bye the workshop if you can next week and I'll take you for a spin in a S with the S/C installed.

POST 18Original post

No worries.Hopefully I should have Dez's turbo finished by then after the weekends off roading.

POST 19Original post

I was watching when he went off. I can't believe the car didn't sustain anymore damage than it did. The car was completely air borne at least 3 feet.
