Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I have been having trouble with my CEL coming on. I reset it twice since the dealer kept telling me it was the gas cap. The car ran normal with no issues but the light. The 3rd time I went off on the service guy since I am the only one that drives or fuels the car. Lets face it I am not completely incapable. The dealer verified the gas cap was OK and there was a vapor leak some place else. They ran a smoke test to find the leak and said it was the fuel pump vent line. Anyone hear of this before? I didn't see any other posts for it so I put it out here. I have a 2006 Cayman S with 39,000 miles. They replaced the fuel pump under warranty and all is well. I figured I would document the issue here for anyone having similar issues.

POST 3Original post

Just curious - what was the CEL code the car was throwing?

POST 5Original post

Did you take a gas sample? there has been some discussions about ethanol on gas causing fuel pump failures ... Here's the link to the thread http://www.planet-9.com/automotive-off-topic/33133-great-ethanol-scam.html

POST 6Original post

Wow I let this slip. The code was very small evap leak. Since the Fuel pump replacement the code continued to trip. Finally I did get a code P0455 large evap leak and I brought it back in. They did another smoke test. I just got the car back tonight and this time they replaced the charcoal canister and DTML pump what ever that is. I guess I will have to see if it continues on or not. They still have not replaced the gas cap stating it passed the test. Just figured I would keep the article up to date.
