Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I've been running Schaeffer 9000 5w40 because of it's high shear strength (and price!), but wanted to have an analysis done to see what, if anything, it would tell me.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I received my oil analysis back from Blackstone today. Realizing that nothing in life is for certain, I do feel better about the health of the engine in my car. The car, built in early '98, has no record of any RMS or other engine related issues, but you still worry a bit. I've been running Schaeffer 9000 5w40 because of it's high shear strength (and price!), but wanted to have an analysis done to see what, if anything, it would tell me. The oil, with 7,700 miles, had a really good report and hopefully is an indicator of an engine that has a lot of life left in it. Hope that I didn't jinx myself... Here's the text from Blackstone: BOBBY: Universal averages show typical wear levels for this type of engine after about 4,200 miles on the oil. Wear in your Porsche looks great compared to averages. The fact that wear is so low and balanced is a good indication that the engine is doing very well mechanically. It can be hit and miss with these engines when it comes to how they wear, but you're taking good care of this one. Low insolubles and silicon show good oil and air filtration. No fuel or coolant was found. Nice.
