New
Cayman
- the washer fluid is coming out like laundry detergent, foamy, dries on windshield sides, splashes up on side windows etc. Never seen this before. Took it to the dealer, we got in a new
Porsche
on the lot and it did the same thing.
They think it might be the mixture that
Porsche
uses. And they said no one else has complained about it. Apparently to drain the tank involves removing the side panel, and they said siphoning it isn't easy either because the tube going down into the tank makes a couple bends. Is that true?
Anyone have this problem? I want to siphon the tank and put it normal washer fluid from Autozone, so any advice would be appreciated. Thx!
Keep switch pressed until all is gone, then wash car, & fill with your favourite mix?
For what its worth the Owner's Manual says "Washer fluid - Clean water is generally not enough to clean the windshield and
headlights
. Depending on the season, mix the water with the
appropriate additives. Follow the instructions for the mixture ratio. Only use window cleaner concentrate which meets the following requirements:
– Dilutability 1:100
– Phosphate-free
– Suitable for plastic headlight lenses.
We recommend window cleaner concentrates approved by
Porsche
."
I did consider holding down the button and just draining the stuff out the washers naturally, but the tank holds 6 quarts of fluid. That's a lot of fluid and I don't want to burn out the motor...
Mine does not behave like the OP's.
Windshield Washer Fluid - Sudsy!
New Cayman - the factory washer fluid is coming out sudsy! Drained it, put in stuff from AutoZone, and it's still coming out sudsy. I have no idea what to do about it, when I use the washer it looks like laundry detergent all over the car.
Dealer tried a new Porsche on the lot, it did the same thing. But he said no one else has complained about it. What the heck is going on?
(Moderator, please don't move this to the complaint department, I'm trying to see if other Cayman owners have this issue and what they did about it, thx).
I just bought a new '08
Boxster
and my washer fluid does the same. It's quite effective at cleaning the windshield and you don't need much to do a decent job. It's probably P21S window wash boost (mix in regular washer fluid), Sonax Windshield Cleaner Concentrate (mix this in a 1:100 ratio in regular water but it doesn't have anitfreeze) or another German equivalent.
If you don't like all the suds, dilute it with more regular window wash solution. This
booster
stuff really works well at removing junk off the windshield. Much better at cleaning and probably makes the wipers last longer since it's most likely a soap solution that helps lubricate the wipers when wiping.
The problem I don't like is the foam gets on the portions of the windshield that the wipers don't cover and the suds dry there and look like hell. Also, the suds travel to the side windows and dry there too. It's driving me crazy. I diluted down the fluid and it still does it. {{{{grrrrrrrr}}}}}
You're just driving too hard and making suds in the process. Try shifting at 3k rpm all the time.
