I've searched for this issue, but it doesn't appear anyone is having the same symptoms as me. I've been having intermittent issues with a "PSM Failure" error popping up. If I'm at a standstill, the engine dies and I have to restart the car. If I'm moving, it feels like the engine stops, but then refires from simple momentum. What will happen is that as I'm driving along, I will get the beep and the PSM Failure pop up, my revs will drop to 0 and instantly bump back up to where they were. This is also followed by a relatively hard kick from the car too (makes sense if the engine dies then immediately goes back up). All of the results I find when I search have been related to replacing batteries, which I don't believe is my problem.
I've taken it to my mechanic who stated that the error code he read is a generic code that suggests something cannot communicate to the
ECU
(this was a couple months ago, so I don't recall exactly). He stated that all he can do for now, if I so choose, is to simply start replacing parts piecemeal or brute forcing the diagnosis, both of which sound $$$ to me.
My more mechanically-savvy friend figures the very least we can do is to use some contact cleaner and clean as many contacts as we can. Any other suggestions? Anyone experience this same issue?
Sounds like you are briefly losing battery voltage . That could cause the car to die. Also every time I disconnect the battey, I get the PSM light on the dash. It goes off after a few blocks down the road.
I have seen mass airflow sensor do similar things wouldn't be bad idea to check it out.

Agree with Poorsche X, sounds like loss of battery voltage/connection. I too had the PSM failure light go on after disconnecting the battery. I would have the battery checked and clean all the terminals as step one. Good luck
There is a ground cable to that goes to the top, middle of the engine right behind the firewall that is notorious for getting corrosion and thus and bad contact.
You might also check the negative battery cable where it connects to the body. It can corrode and cause strange electrical behavior.
That is the power cable so be careful not to touch the body. Or disconnect the battery first so you don't short out the battery.
