Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

Just bought a 2010 Cayman S. First timer with a PDK so I'm still learning how to use it. I started the car today, cold start. Is this sound normal? It slowly reduces as you rev up. ( see video ) Thanks!! https://youtu.be/fDe75mn4pQY

POST 2Original post

hard to diagnose through a microphone but think it sounds normal. the walls could be accentuating the sound. cold starts are usually an event the sound should reduce once warmed up.

POST 3Original post

FWIW I noticed the same on my Boxster. In the summer when the temperature is around 80 in the morning no difference in the engine sound when started. The last week mornings have been cooler - around 50 or below in the morning. When started cold the engine has pronounced clicking from the valve train which I have not noticed before. After driving for 5-10 min. as the engine worms up the sound disappears. I guess this is normal. My S2000 was doing the same.

POST 4Original post

yeah, I ran it today for about 2 hours and everything went smooth. So it was probably a " new car concern " type of thought. Thanks for the replies!
