Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Was pulling apart the front of the Cayman when I happened across the cabin air filter. It had a manufacture date of 2005.

POST 3Original post

Wow! I posted this on another BMW forum but I thought I would share it here too since the same companies make the OEM cabin filters for Porsches. I normally buy Mann cabin filters but I tried a Micron one and was disappointed how much lower quality it was. The Mann was heavier and had more activated charcoal evenly distributed across all the pleats. If you held it up the light, you couldn't see any daylight. Immediately, when I pulled out the Micron, I noticed how light it was and how little activated charcoal was in it, but more importantly that it was not evenly distributed and you could see big sections of daylight through it. I know too much charcoal can also create some smell after some time because airflow is not as good, but it should be evenly distributed not like this. So I still recommend Mann for German cabin filters. For disclosure these were for my BMW E46 330i. Best wishes.
