Problem is, the left brake light bulb is on, but it glows as if the brakes are being pressed. The right break bulb is fine and glows brighter once the brake is pressed. Replaced with 7825 bulbs from Sylvania and Hella and no difference. Any advice? Should I replace the left rear brake socket panel? Appreciate the help to this new member of the forum! Thank you.
Free (and possibly not the problem but first?) I'd check the brake switch at the pedal. The plunger assembly is a weird design but it can be adjusted (at least the

) I'd think if a problem it would make both bulbs illuminate but it's not hard to check. Disconnect it and see if the bulb is still on. (ICNU has the better thing to check)
Also sounds like the behavior of the light if you were to activate the rear fog lamp while driving. (i.e. the rear driver's side light is brighter when engaged) Don't know what circuit that would be on, but you may want to add that to the list of things to check.
Hi Dejan,
Welcome to Planet-9!
I'm sure you meant a 7528 bulb was what you replaced.. and those are the correct silver based bulbs (German lighting systems can be fussy about this sort of thing..)
When you say "it glows as if the breaks wee being pressed" - do you mean the brightness is equal to the right side brake light?
Is the bulb on all the time (even with the light switch set to off?)
On the right side - is there any bulb illuminated when the left side bulb is on?

Sounds like you have the rear fog light on. Check your owners manual regarding how that works.
unfortunately no, the fog light is to the far left and its off. This is the brake bulb, the bulb that is on the right of the assembly.
Yes, the brightness is equal to the right side break light, even when the brake pedal is not being pressed. Oh, and when the lights are off, the brake light does not turn on at all, so to answer your second question, the bulb is not on all the time, even when the switch is set to off. Good thing is, I learned pulling the light switch out once turns on the fogs and twice turns on the rear fog lamp!
