Check the power and light to see if it actually works.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi
I have a 996 tt 2004, my battrey was dead and i used a jump start and by accident put the jump starter leads on the wrong way, it sparked and once I put it on properly and started the car, the PCM 2 didnt work at all, I then replaced the blown fuse in the kick panel and behind the PCM.
It now turns on but no sound, the message comes as "System error: amplifier, CD changer, Phone not available"
has anyone had this problem and know of a fix for this???
Thanks
Hi there
Sorry you've got a problem as your first post.
Your car has a Fibre optic MOST system connecting the headunit, amp, CD and phone unit. It's susceptible to overload when jump starting.
You've more than likely overloaded one of them (phone units are the most common apparently) which will mean the circuit is broken as each element is responsible for the transmit light to the next. Suggest you get it checked out at your local Porsche centre.
If it's confirmed as the phone unit and you don't use it then they can bypass it.
Good luck ...hopefully won't be too much.
Hi
Thanks for the info mate! is there any way I could fix it myself?? I dont mind taking it to the dealers but if I can sort it then dont mind getting my hands dirty....
If its the phone then how can I by pass it???
You can investigate it by checking they've all got power (fuses etc) and the fibre between the components to see if they're active. Should be red lit emitting on the sender from each. CD and amp are in the boot, phone module is under the passenger seat I think ( I don't have one so not totally sure) If the circuit is broken they none of them will work properly.
Checking it won't cost much. Depending on where you are in the country most independents can deal with this. Sports and classics in the north west, Cartronics in Surrey and Northway in Berkshire all come to mind
Thanks again buddy, Ive removed the amp opened it from the sides, I can see some honey looking liquid like stuff leaked onto the main board from these big round resistors or something which are on the board??? dont know if its suposed to be like that??
If the amp is knackered then I need another bose amp, does anyone have one for sale which will work with my bose system?
Please help. Thanks
got it sorted by porschtek in leeds, it was the fuse in the cd changer which was blown! it cost £45 to diagnose & £15 to fix, so glad its sorted now.
just thought i would mention it so if anyone else has the same problem then they can fix it...
