Funnily enough Johnny we have fitted cams ourselves into an E30 M3, ended up with around 225bhp.

I have also fitted a Miltek exhaust (probably the best around for E30 M3's at the moment) and 284/272 cams to my car which is a 2.5 Sport Evo.

The day includes third party, driver & passenger injury insurance (you are on your own with the car) and the bonus is that this is THE FIRST track day at Oulton to ever use the remodeled Knickerbrook complex.

We will, however, be soon unleashing a Group A BMW Motorsport style "Alpha-N" conversion for the M3 that will give the same results as Motec but at half the cost, using the same ecu with a remap and a conversion box.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Melv & the Cup will be there -my favourite track. Be interestng to see how they ease Knickerbrook.
C'mon Dom, the Red Baron is a figment of yr imagination!!
Yes it is, but if there are 65 or more RS's, then there will be no other cars out. Get your entries in asap, at a minimum we need 25 RS's to have at least one exclusive session.
According to Circuit Driver, the extg pit buildings are being demolished to make way for new buildings and revised access to the pit lane. They better pull their fingers out if it's going to be ready for March!!
Melv
I spoke to Tim last week, basically the word is that the day is filling up quickly, so, as ever, if we are gong to make this a pukka RS day, get the entry cheques over to Tim NOW or it aint gonna happen.
OK maybe it is too early in the year to plan ahead when there is snow on the ground, but if we make a start with this day, and all goes well, maybe we can persuade Tim & Marcus to throw another one later on in the year and get all the RS's out of their cossetted garages for the day. Come on guys, don't let me down, this is a good starting point for the future of all RS drivers to get together in style.
Thanx 4 the warning Colin. I think ur right abt too wintry to plan ahead!! It's booked in my diary, will get cheque off to Tim ASAP and book B&B 4 the nite B4. Will be staying in Hatchmere. Room for trailer and secure off road parking. Pub and Chinese nearby!! I'll be walking to dinner that night! If anybody wants B&B info, can fax copy of page in Autosport Cct Guide. Let me know.
Hopefully it may just be warm enough by then to try my slicks out!!
;-)
Rgds

hey guys dont forget to check your crash helmets , as from jan 03 octagon circuits require you wear a BS6658 TYPE A helmet on trackdays. Random checks will be the order of the day. Full price for full face at demon tweeks is about £84 I think.
Update for all interested parties. The 25 special price places for RS owners have now been taken, although there are a few remaining places at the slightly higher normal rate. Anyone who has not paid up front please contact Tim as soon as possible if you are going to come, otherwise you will end up being a spectator or even worse (in some cases) a passenger.
As far as I am aware, 911 & Porsche World and GT Purely Porsche are sending along representatives to watch the fun, and given a little luck, I should have the first public outing of my new 3.81 naturally aspirated race engine, on demo in Adrian's 964RS as well as the ninemeister RSR.
See you all there.
Thanks for the update Colin, thats an impressive collection of 100db+ machines waiting to be released into/onto the Cheshire countryside. Are they all going out together in a session ?
I shall head to the back of the pack to explore whether Kart control techniques apply. Who else is going ? still plenty of room for non RS types
I should be going, insurance willing, to give the Red Baron (now under new ownership) a decent sortie. Hope it's dry for the badgers' sakes!!!
Interestingly, my sensible replacement car, a Schnitzered-up E36 BMW with a V8 engine fitted, handles like badger poo compared to the Baron. That said, I don't swerve to avoid potholes like I used to
Here's to them RSs
Just spoken to Tim and managed to squeeze on due to a cancalation!
I might be travelling up the night before, so if anyone is around or already booked in somewhere (melv?)
can you let me have the details.
Anyone who has not paid Tim is now a disappointed bunny, as all places have gone and if you didn't send a cheque to confirm the places are full. We have 38 Porsche's going, and about 30 RS's of varying guises. Thanks to everyone for making the effort to come out to play, and for all the maybe's we will see you next time!
This is great news! Can't wait!
I'm staying Friday night at Wickentree farm in Hatchmere, within walking distance from Chinese restaurant or pub for dinner.

It seems to have been re-profiled so that you really have to slow down after Hill Top to lower your entry into Knickerebrook.
The upside being, that your exit speed from KB into Clay is greater.
In fact the Oulton staff were advising drivers - who had been before - to take it easy for the first few laps, as a powerfull car will be approaching Druids quicker than previously.
All in all still a brilliant track.
.
I've just realised that yours is the same track day as the one I'm going on. It will be fantastic seeing all your RS's. We are heading to Oulton on the same day with around 8 E30 M3s. I've just had Motec/cams/exhaust added to my Sport Evo, but I haven't driven it yet. I'm picking it up tomorrow. I've just got 4 grand's worth of goodies on the thing, and now I'll want an RS when I've seen your motors. Damn.
Funnily enough Johnny we have fitted cams ourselves into an E30 M3, ended up with around 225bhp. We will, however, be soon unleashing a Group A BMW Motorsport style "Alpha-N" conversion for the M3 that will give the same results as Motec but at half the cost, using the same ecu with a remap and a conversion box. Just think of what extra's you could have had with the savings.
Still, mustn't grumble, eh?
Be interested to experience the new Knickerbrook, Whitechimp, According to 'Circuit Driver' they were going to EASE the corner, it was always heavy on the brakes at the Fosters cct entry and then 2nd or 3rd thru the corner, depending on yr car....
Seeyas all Saturday (or Friday night!!)
Melv
Ninemeister,
Ah-ha.....but I got my Motec second hand off a bloke who bought his E30 M3 with it already fitted. Amazingly, he wanted to return his car to its original spec, so I got the whole package (ECU, ITG filter, all sensors, plug and play custom loom) for a grand! The kit is the one put together/devised by Powerstation.
I have also fitted a Miltek exhaust (probably the best around for E30 M3's at the moment) and 284/272 cams to my car which is a 2.5 Sport Evo. It started with 225 BHP, and so I'm hoping for over 250 plus. I'm picking it up from Bexley Motor Works in London tomorrow. They have done the work. Our E30 M3 convoy is then heading up to Oulton Park tomorrow night. I can't wait to see how fast she goes.
Your budget alpha-N solution for E30 M3s will sell very well. Powerstation already offer the Motec route, but it costs 2500 quid including the mapping and VAT. Bexleys are devising a budget system of their own. You ought to pop over to our posse at Oulton Park and have a chat about what you have in the pipeline. People will be interested. However, the 2 lads from Bexleys will also be there, and they might chase you off! I'll be in the red Sport Evo with the half cage/harnesses, with the reg no. G*** WCD.
See you there.
Anybody know what time things are kicking off?
I seem to remember that you can't run before 12noon at Oulton , or is that just on a Sunday?
Let me know
Andy
The collection noun for a group of RS's is?
A big thank you to 9M, Melv, Tim from Millenium and Easytrack for a top day. Any plans for another event with less total numbers. Open pit lane would be fantastic as it would allow far more opportunities to passenger in other cars.
>> Edited by Paulc on Sunday 23 March 08:33
Was a hoot wasn't it!! There was open pit lane,.... from about 4.15pm!! I doubt there were more than half a dozen cars out in the last fifteen minutes. Marshalls got bored so chequered flag went out at 4.50 -doh!! Only did 100 track miles, but put that down to the 'offs' and breakdowns in the morning.
Great day guys. Sorry I didn't meet and greet you all, but a lot going on.
The Cup was performing impecably and those old S02's were sure hanging on in there!!!!!
And a big thankyou to the Scottish contingent for providing the entertainment on Friday night.
Looking forward to the pictures.
Melv
Can I take the opportunity to thank everyone who made this day possible:
Tim and Marcus & all the admin guys/girls for allowing us to almost take over their day and for putting up with a constant stream of disappointed reserves.
Oulton Park for providing a marvelous circuit, interesting mod to knickerbrook, I look forward to re-using the pit lane for the next one
All the Marshals & recovery crews who got us underway efficiently
Sean (993RS) for organising the photoshoot even though he could not get out on the track
and last but not least thanks to everyone who made the effort to pre-pay, come down/up and enjoy the best track in the country and the most glorious weather I have seen in Cheshire for months (9m always plan ahead!).
I am sorry if there were folk there I did not take the time out to meet, but I did have a lot going on. I will be talking to Tim again next week to organise the next events, let's hope to see even more RS's next time out so we can have the entire day to ourselves.
Cheers to all concerned.
Yeah looking forward to seeing some of the pics, but none of me at dinner with Melv as I appear to have been almost as refreshed as Boydy, but a good /great day and well worth the journey fae bonny Scotland.
Mike
Mike
Looking forward to seeing yous guys at Knockhill at PCGB day in September. You guys have convinced me it's worth flying up for, sans Cup, but what the hell!!
Melv
We should have a record of the day on the 9m site soon as a news article, Steve is putting a few pictures together, so if anyone has some on-track action photies we will add them to the others.
Right folks, this is it.
Due to popular demand from all PH RS owners the unofficial 964RS / 993RS trackday is now arranged for at Oulton Park for Saturday 22nd of March 2003 at the very reasonable price of £165 per car. There are 3 sessions available, each session for no more than 28 cars, and to encourage the RS owners to get of their RS I have arranged with Tim that the first 25 RS owners to register before the end of January will get the day for the unbelievable price of £149. Should se get more than 25 coming, we will take over another session, but you MUST get in early to book, i.e. post the cheques in January!
The day includes third party, driver & passenger injury insurance (you are on your own with the car) and the bonus is that this is THE FIRST track day at Oulton to ever use the remodeled Knickerbrook complex. Do not call me, contact Tim from Millenium at 01606 883876 or 07774 665888, and all you in the PCGB registers will no doubt get a call from Melvin and Paul respectively.
Lets all see if we can make the first event of its kind in the country a very special event for all the right reasons.
