Also while you're at it replace the tire stems with the cool porsche tequipment ones.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have visited several tire websites, but while their pricing is appealing, I'm still not sure who to have mount the tires.
I am about 1,000 miles from needing to replace my rears. Should I have this done at the dealership or at a regular tire store? I have visited several tire websites, but while their pricing is appealing, I'm still not sure who to have mount the tires.
In my area, Discount Tire does a great job. They are careful to protect nice wheels, and take care to torque the lug nuts properly. They always meet or beat Tire Rack prices, and I don't have to mess with the shipping issue to a local dealer of unknown competence.
(Disclaimer: No connection with any tire companies!)
The tirerack, as I'm sure other tire websites do, lists local installers. My dealer buys from the tirerack, and while of course they throw mark up on the tires, they come out about the same as local tire shops. (A little higher, but not enough that I'll worry). I believe in sticking with my dealer because they take care of me. Whether or not its worth paying a little more at the dealer to sustain a good relationship with them depends on the quality of that relationship to begin with.
My gut feeling is the most economical yet safe deal would be to get your best online price, then negotiate something close (if they beat it, great, but just close) with a local tire seller.
Both are good and local dealers will usually match the pricing making it attractive to go there as long as they have a decent wheel balance machine etc. Make sure you match your front brand and type though, or replace all 4. Also while you're at it replace the tire stems with the cool porsche tequipment ones. I wish I did that.
I used to work for discount tire and they do wonderful jobs on sports cars. If they do scratch a rims they will replace it or fix it so be sure to take pictures before you have your tires done. Try to find a discount tire shop that deals with sports cars like the one I worked in San Diego off of Genesee. The San Diego PCA is a big member there having tech sessions there twice a year.
I buy from Tire Rack, have the tires shipped to my Porsche dealer and they do the mounting and balancing for $25 per tire (after some negotiation over price). And I just drop the car off in the morning, get a free Boxster loaner to drive, so it's a pretty sweet deal.
tirerack is one of the largest distributors in the USA for tires so they should have the best leverage for pricing and availability. As a matter of fact, I was ordering a rare size for a S0-3 tire when it first came out, nobody had it except tire rack, not even the drop ship distribution wherehouse for bridgestone.
if you have a mechanic or car shop owner friend, they can get additional discount from them as wholesaler, and you can save even more. check with the tire shop listed with tirerack if they would be willing to pass this discount to you if you give them the bid.
If I can assume by your screen name that you are from Boca Raton, I can recommend an excellent shop in Pompano Beach. Foreign Affairs Motorsports at [phone removed]. Ask for Bobby. I have no affiliation other than I am a very satisfied customer!
