Set the settings to the middle stiffness and feels great.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, Picked up this beauty yesterday here in Perth. It's my second 911, first being a 1999 convertible back in 2021. I gotta admit I am bit of a noob when it comes to Porsche's with the majority of my fun cars has been BMW's.. The widebody got me! Quick specs: 2002, manual, silver on black, 155k kms. had IMS etc etc and has been mechanically really looked after. extended leather (not sure if all 4S had that), turbo wheels Was owned by local Porsche Club of WA president from 2017 to earlier this year. Few things to do: - second gear pops out (mainly when cold). They have tried the detent method but still same. It does have a Numeric GT3 (or whatever it's called shifter and cables). Not sure if stock shifter would improve this? Or trying to adjust cables... - passenger window at times (often) does not drop when door is open. Gotta pull the door handle a touch to drop it and then shut the door. Previous owner said might be the microswitch of some sort? - she has been on WOVR register, from an accident in 2010. no pics of previous damage but rear driver side quarter apparently. Plans: - give her a nice well-deserved detail. - calipers are red but fairly faded, so probably refresh them. - sort out second gear hopefully and passenger window/door Any advice welcome, especially in regard to the issues I mentioned! here are a few pictures

POST 2Original post

Enjoy! Nice choice with the hips and stick shift Regarding the micro-switch, sadly when I had my 996, it was a complete replacement of the door catch or is it latch - anyways, the doova in the door itself. Apparently the micro-switches are not serviceable (Can't really say, as I never tried) Quick search on the interwebs doesn't look promising regarding 2nd gear...... Either way, have fun enjoyinng the smiles per miles!!

POST 3Original post

Gee 155k in 23yrs!! Very low mileage. Good luck with the fixes, let’s hope @P-Kay is wrong eh!?? those bloody “doovas” !! you sound like a 996 fan, good onya! ,

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Spent the weekend refreshing the brakes. Calipers needed some love! Also fixed passenger window. Wasn’t staying down when door is open, needed a new latch.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Been doing a few more cosmetic jobs lately. - red face tacho gauge and brushed rings - red seatbelts - refurbished wheels

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Few more cosmetic touches - Alcantara steering wheel - Alcantara gear knob Few pics from the Peter Brock memorial site here in Perth. Went for a drive with a friend of mine.

POST 7Original post

I personally think the Alcantara shift knob is one of the best upgrades for a manual 996.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Couple of more additions to her lately - a few more Alcantara bits. Had the trimmer do handbrake handle and arm rest too in Alcantara with red stitching. - a PCCM copy unit added. Works great! - Finally some Bilstein PSS10 coilovers. Loving the suspension. Set the settings to the middle stiffness and feels great. I don’t drive her very often, she’s sitting at 158,500 kms at moment. few pics
