Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I set all the counters back to zero when I collected the 2002 (3.6L) C2 in January.
Leading evidence: 'Set counters back' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Fill ups my average is 27.4mpg' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
Over the past 8 fill ups my average is 27.4mpg which verifies what the computer says and I think that's pretty good.

The best I've seen is 34mpg, on a 200-mile run from Manchester to Norfolk (sticking pretty much within speed limits and with a fair few 50mph-restricted roadworks), however to me it's just a pleasant upside of 996 ownership - mpg is certainly not the reason I bought a 911...

Suggestion
I usually have 22mpg but on a run i have had 34mpg, i dont think they are that bad on economy.

Suggestion
All in all a good car and cheaper to run than what most people think, especially when serviced by a reputable independent.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Ok, during the last week or so I've driven like a little old lady..!
150 miles covered (just to get an average reading) then I filled her up.
The journeys consisted of 3 trips to my place of work (32 mile round trip x 3 on A roads) not exceeding 65mph.
That left 54 miles around town. (30mph limits in 6th gear =1000rpm)
This is the most conservative driving I have ever done in 20yrs of driving...! Even bordering on sheer boredom..!
But look at the figures... 410 miles in tank, I averaged approx 29mpg even though Porsche quote 23.5mpg.
Will I continue to drive like this....eeeeeerrrrr I think NOT.!
Having had my C4S for 4 months now I have done all permutations of the journeys I am ever likely to do. En-route to work, which is 24 miles through a town centre, I average 31mpg. This is mainly because it is at 05:30am and I drive at a sedate pace as the only other cars in the roads tend to be police cars (it's surprising how many there are).
On the way back it is a different story and it drops to circa 26mpg, mainly due to the heavier traffic and a more spirited drive.
En-route to uni in York over the M62 from Preston I averaged 33mpg which I was amazed at and I wasn't even driving that slowly either.
Finally each time I fill up I record the mileage I have done and the amount of fuel I have just put in the car into a spreadsheet. Over the past 8 fill ups my average is 27.4mpg which verifies what the computer says and I think that's pretty good.
Considering what the car is capable, and believe me I do drive it a bit silly at times, I was pretty shocked. Speaking to a friend he doesn't get much more out of a ford focus!!
I have just paid for the road tax as well and it was £215, not that bad really as I thought it'd be miles more.

I set all the counters back to zero when I collected the 2002 (3.6L) C2 in January. Since then I drive 30 miles on the M6 from Preston to Warrington every day, and then back again (60 total). This is usually at around 75 - 80 mph, depending on how busy the roads are - but it can get up to the ton if i'm lucky.
At the weekends I tend to get another 100 or so miles around the good A roads. In all I have clocked up 4,000 miles
I checked the counters this afternoon, and it has averaged 48 mph & 31.4 MPG. I'm a bit dissapointed in the average speed - but what can you do on these busy motorways now? However, 31 mpg is bloody good for this type of car - my boss has an RX-8, and he can't even get 23 mpg !

Ill be honest, ive seen 36 mpg in my 996, coming back from oxford in rain you couldnt see through sitting at 50 almost the whole way! but normally I dont worry about the economy when im on my own - think its somthing you only really look at when your not able to enjoy the drive as much as you know you could!
Yap, was thinking exactly the same.... the best I did was 21 mpg in my turbo and I was absolutly throwing toothpicks into my eyeballs to keep myself amused.... to the far extent of my knowledge, was the best mpg I got since I owned the car ( from three years ago ) and I DO NOT plan to repeat the feat...
I managed about 28 mpg in trip over the Penines to Sheffields from Cheshire. I wasn't trying to be ecconomical, so I was really impressed with that for normal driving in a car capable of doing over 170MPH and 0-60 in under 5 seconds
You've gotta love the 996, it's a cracking car !!!!
Still cannot get mine over 24.6. Stopped trying months ago as over a trip of over 400 miles at brisk but not hammering it on mostly motorways this was the best. Cant see any other driving style worthy of a Porsche will improve it.
And I dont care
I regularly see 30+ in my 996TT when driving on the motorway - I don't speed along much past 70 anyway as I don't want to give the police the satisfaction of pulling me over.
Driving a turbo is enough of a magnet to watching eyes as it is!
