Well, got the front to bits again yesterday and it's defo the air con rad that was leaking, after getting a pool of rad 'gunk' on the garage floor next to a pool of coolant, it was obvious it was the rad gunk that was leaking.
Leading evidence: 'rad gunk' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'rad gunk' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace centre rad' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Minny, i thought about changing them both as i was taking the bumper off, but the coolant rad looks in very good nick, so i'd say it was changed not too long ago so i'll leave it for now methinks 8)

Used search function on here and deducted that the radiator on that side was leaking coolant so started the search for a new one.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

A few weeks ago i spotted a very small 'pool' of green liquid on the garage floor, just in front of the drivers side front wheel. Used search function on here and deducted that the radiator on that side was leaking coolant so started the search for a new one.
However! took the front bumper off yesterday to have a good look and found that the air con radiator/condenser? has a large dark 'stain' on the bottom left corner as you look at it from the front of the car. After having another search on here, and seeing as my air con is crap i'm now wondering if the green liquid is coming from the air con system and is not actually coolant? but, the coolant in the header tank is the same colour! so i'm now well confused! Any help will be gratefully received.
When i was having a root about yesterday the air con rad was totally dry but just under the fins of the cooling rad you could easily see liquid build up sitting on top of the bottom 'tank' of the rad.
If the coolant was a different colour it would be easy, but i gather that the oily guff in the air con system is also green :?:
getting right on my ta-taa's now!
I've just changed my centre rad and
my coolant is orange ish. I also have a slight stain on my condensor (passenger side) but my a/c is working great. Doesn't help you but more info I guess :?
If its bright green then its going to be air con fluid not coolant. I assume your header tank water level has not dropped. Almost certain to be the aircon codensor rad in the front or a leak from a pipe joint.
Not necessarily air con.
I'm led to believe, somebody correct me, that earlier cars coolant was actually green, hence the confusion.
Obviously, check the colour of the fluid in the header tank and depending on that you should be able to tell what one it is.
Thanks for the replies all, my coolant is indeed green (year 2000 car), but, the 'pool' on the garage floor was bright green, whereas my coolant, when i dip my finger in the header tank and look at the drip that forms on the end of my finger i'd say its more of a green tinge than bright green.
i've just had 2 good ideas, i'm gonna get some of the coolant from the header tank and make a little pool on the garage floor to see how it looks, then i'm gonna whip the bumper off again, take the air con condenser/rad off and see if i can get any liquid that will hopefully still be in it to drip out onto the floor and compare the two. Fault finding at its best!!!
The earlier coolant was a light green or more yellowish green. The green liquid you see will probably be the PAG oil from the aircon system. If the condensor is indeed holed by corrosion, then the radiator is not far behind and do consider changing it when the condensor is being done as its not much more work (another hour's labour, 1 new radiator at £140 and 3 litres of coolant mix).

On the plus side i've found a replacement rad at

for £173.45 delivered, which is nice

i was wondering that too, but just stuck with rad on this thread, hopefully i'll never need to mention either word ever again lol
Am defo fitting it myself, i'm a tight fooker!

Said he can supply Behr replacements if I want but recommends heavier ones made in China with no makers name?
I'm sure someone recommend them on a previous posting, any thoughts would be appreciated.
